Stolman Announces Candidacy for Lake County Treasurer

Buffalo Grove resident David Stolman, a longtime member of the Lake County Board, plans to run for Lake County treasurer in 2014.

Lake County Board member David Stolman will run for Lake County treasurer in 2014, he announced this week. Current Lake County Treasurer Robert Skidmore has said he will not seek reelection next year.

“It has been my honor to serve my neighbors in Lake County, and I wish to continue to do everything I can to ensure our county remains an oasis of fiscal sanity in Illinois,” said Stolman, a Buffalo Grove resident who has served on the county board since 1992, and as its chairman from 2010-2012.

“As Lake County treasurer, I pledge to carry on the legacy of Bob Skidmore by advancing technology in the office while being efficient with taxpayer dollars,” he said.

In a press release issued this week, Stolman described himself a leader in Lake County for economic development. He helped create Lake County Partners, a non-profit which works hand-in-hand with Lake County Government to create and retain quality jobs, stimulate capital investment, pursue economic diversity, and improve the county's business climate. He has also led the charge for the extension of Route 53, and while on the county board he has worked to continue the Lake County tradition of fiscal responsibility, he said.

“My primary motivation will be to do the job well for the people who employ us, the taxpayers of Lake County,” he said. “In addition, I believe the treasurer has a unique opportunity to positively impact the county economy which would improve the lives of Lake County families. I intend to do so by being a strong voice for economic development and an ambassador for our wonderful county.”
