SHS Grad Backs Incumbent Slate

Letter to the Editor

As a 2010 Stevenson graduate, it is my honor to support Terry Moons, Bruce Lubin, Merv Roberts, and David Weisberg in the April 5th Stevenson High School District 125 School Board election. I had the unique pleasure of working directly with the current board members as the Student Activities School Board Representative. Through my interaction, what really stood out to me was a certain passion, commitment, and involvement with the Stevenson community. Every month I presented a report about student activities within the school. It was extremely evident just how much the school board cares about student events, and they even get involved when possible.

I also had the pleasure of working with many school board members on committees alongside other students and faculty members. It is apparent that our school board members are interested in building a school that is more than just a place for academics, but also a place that promotes sophisticated and knowledgeable young adults with a variety of life skills to succeed. Whether offering inclusion programs for students with disabilities, providing numerous leadership opportunities, or enriching the classroom environment to make learning enjoyable, we can all agree that Stevenson is a school of excellence. So much of its quality is owed directly to the wonderful leadership we have been lucky enough to receive over the past several years.

I am fortunate enough to know first hand that our school board members take the time to meet with students to discuss what changes they would like to see and work closely with community members to encourage school unity. Through all of this time, effort, and dedication, their purpose is extremely clear. Enhancing the quality for every single student is what is important to these devoted school board members.
