Sente Responds to Blago's Guilty Verdicts

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was found guilty Monday on 17 of 20 counts.

State Rep. Carol Sente (D-Vernon Hills) issued the following statement following the guilty verdict reached in the retrial of former governor Rod Blagojevich Monday:

“I am glad former Governor Blagojevich was found guilty on these severe charges. Corruption has no place in government and those that defy the public’s trust should be out of government, lose their public pensions and be sentenced according to the law.

It is important that we continue to work to increase transparency in state government to restore the public’s trust. People should be in government for the right reasons, not looking for personal gain. This verdict draws a line in the sand that says corruption is not OK. We have to act like public servants, not like politicians.”
