Refunds to be Issued to 2,368 Water Customers

Many Buffalo Grove residents in Lake County will receive reimbursements in next month's water bill.

About 40 percent of Buffalo Grove’s Lake County residents will receive a refund on their next water bill as the result of an .

The agreement, which came a month after many residents saw a spike in their water bills, will result in credits ranging from $1 to $791 on the November bill, Village Manager Dane Bragg said.

Bragg said that of 5,878 residents billed for Lake County sewer services, 2,368 will be issued a credit.

The average Lake County home used a total of 20,000 gallons of water during July and August, up from 12,000 gallons during non-peak bill cycles between September 2010 and May 2011, Bragg said.

As a result, the average consumer was charged $143 for water and sewer use, with $80 of that fee assessed for Lake County sewer service.
