are investigating a fight that broke out Monday night among a group of residents at .

The incident occurred moments after the Village Board’s regular meeting ended just before 10 p.m. As trustees headed into their closed-door session, former trustee Lisa Stone, who had addressed the board, headed to the side of the room where staff members and Buffalo Grove Police Chief Steve Balinski sit. Stone said she exchanged comments with another audience member, and then told resident Stan Zoller "you're next."

Zoller often attends the meetings and documents the activity, which often involves Stone, in his blog.

That's when, Stone said, “he did something that made me mad. I don’t know what he said, even, but it was something provocative, and I gave him the finger.”

"Then I said, 'I have two words for you,’" Zoller said. "I’ll leave it at that.”

After Stone and Zoller exchanged words, resident Bonnie George, who had also delivered public comments during the meeting, stepped in to defend Stone. That’s when an altercation occurred, catching the attention of those who remained in the room. Reporters in the room saw Zoller with his fist raised.

"The fist thing was completely reactive," Zoller told Patch Tuesday morning. "There was no intent there whatsoever."

Balinski, other officers and a resident stepped in to diffuse the situation. No one was injured, nor was anyone charged in the incident Monday night.

“There will be a police investigation,” said Balinski, who was nearby when the scene erupted. “We will consult with the Cook County State’s Attorney, too, to review the facts.”

“We’re going to look into the totality of the situation. We’re on a fact-finding mission,” he said.

Zoller on Tuesday said that he regretted "causing a disturbance."

"I shouldn't have said what I said (to Stone). It was probably out of frustration," he said. He disputed Stone's claim that he did something to provoke her. "Had I said anything to provoke her, that would be another story. Had I done something to deserve the finger, fine. But I didn't."

Stone and George headed to the police station immediately after the meeting to tell their sides of the story. Zoller talked with officers at Village Hall, then left the building.

What, in the name of God and all that is holy, makes you think anyone here supports pedophiles?
Erica Williams June 23, 2012 at 06:51 PM
How would you like it if your son or daughter was sexually molested as a child? Plain and simple.
Sandy Klein June 23, 2012 at 07:48 PM
Erica, you are way off base. Nobody here has condoned anything that has happened to this child or the family. NOBODY. Get off your high horse and go back and read the posts and stop questioning people based on something you're making up in your fairytale imagination. After my exchange with you and seeing how off the wall you are, I'm convinced you must be a Stone. Major eye roll.
RELENTLESSCRITIC June 23, 2012 at 08:33 PM
Erica is one of Stone's flying monkeys. Can't think for herself and can't conduct any kind of lucid discussion. Always resorts to name calling, or cutting to the lowest common denominator. Just like now- you don't agree with Stone, so you must agree with the guy that molested those kids. I know, for a reasonably intelligent person that's a long stretch in logic. But for Erica, it is direct from point A to point B. Erica"'s comments tell you all you need to know about what kind of a person you're dealing with. Now watch- she'll call me a pedophile next- if she can figure out how to spell it. p.s. Erica, just want to make certain you know that a pedophile is not someone who enjoys riding bicycles. Hope that helps a bit.
RELENTLESSCRITIC June 23, 2012 at 08:34 PM
Erica- how long have you been an idiot? All your life, or just recently? Answer the question.
Gary Stone June 24, 2012 at 04:48 AM
I do agree with one thing you said--you are so confused. As for your "catchy" tune, you may want to rethink who you're calling "crazy". Finally, caps on damages are detrimental to the civil justice system. Not really that complicated or confusing.
Sandy Klein June 24, 2012 at 02:52 PM
Maybe we should get a court order to reveal who Erica is so we can sue her for libel.
Sandy Klein June 24, 2012 at 03:00 PM
I'm starting to think the Stone supporters either a) do not know the history of what's gone on in years past with her, or b) are just as batty as she is. Anyone who isn't educated should look at the video of the village board meeting of June 18th on the village website at www.vbg.org. The constant rambling, attacks, going off topic, run on sentences about gum, smoking, what she did years ago, toastmasters, etc. indicates something is going on with Lisa that isn't quite normal. This is exactly how she conducted herself when she was on the board, so nothing got done during her reign. Nothing. She's out of control, aggressive, mean-spirited and vindictive. If you disagree with her or try to control her actions so she's following the rules of the board, she'll find a way to make you pay. And when someone who wasn't pro-Lisa accidentally bumped into her at a crowded baseball field in town, she went and filed a police report against him. That's just the kind of person she is. Nasty. Nasty and looking for a problem where none exists. The Stones have NO credibility, In fact, if one of them said the sky was blue I would check on that based on the source.
Boris the Animal June 24, 2012 at 11:04 PM
But Gary is an ambulance chaser, ooops make that personal injury attorney. His credibility is 30-40% plus expenses. Nothing sleazy about that
Boris the Animal June 25, 2012 at 12:57 AM
Boris saves most of his rage (which he oddly expresses only in the third person) for Mrs. Stone. Boris will be attending the next BG village meeting. He will INSIST that the meeting run smoothly and without pointless rambling and annoying delays. Buffalo Grove has been embarrassed more than enough by the entire Stone family (this applies to you too, Alan Art Alan - now would be the PERFECT opportunity to rebel against your parents). It's time to let our local duly elected - not shamefully recalled - government officials do their jobs. Boris has spoken
Janet Sirabian June 25, 2012 at 07:25 PM
Gary, no one attacked her. You really need to check out facts.
Bucky the Badger June 25, 2012 at 09:04 PM
I just wish he had punched her...
Bucky the Badger June 25, 2012 at 09:06 PM
Erica is just another name Lisa Stone is using probably
Boris the Animal June 26, 2012 at 12:07 AM
Whoa, Bucky! Let's not go there - please. Boris Is in charge now, and he does NOT condone violence of any kind, even discussion of such. We must stay on topic and simply make it clear that no one in Buffalo Grove (perhaps besides the occasional shyster personal injury lawyer) wants to see, hear or read about Ms. Stone and her Bizarro World conspiracy theories and delusions of grandeur anymore. Boris has spoken again
Sandy Klein June 26, 2012 at 12:33 AM
Check facts? Why start now? It's easier to just make things up so Lisa looks like a poor innocent victim. Janet, I have a question. Why does the board put up with Lisa and her antics? It only makes the village look bad and makes the board look like they're not in control. Ask for a police officer at the meeting and the minute her time is done and she won't give up the microphone, have her physically removed. Do that enough and maybe she'll start respecting the board, the village and the rules.
Sandy Klein June 26, 2012 at 12:36 AM
God forbid I ever need a personal injury attorney, but if I did, Gary Stone wouldn't be on my list of lawyers to hire. Not after seeing how he operates where his wife is concerned. Bob Clifford, maybe. Or Goldberg, Weisman, Cairo. But certainly not Stone.
Mark Bushey June 26, 2012 at 03:58 AM
Can the board get a restraining order on the nutball?
Ed Muldoon June 26, 2012 at 01:22 PM
Get a switch for that microphone. Get the camera off her at the end of her time. Appoint a Sergeant-at-Arms. Give her an oil painting for an audience, no comments, no smiles, no expressions from the Board. At the end of her time, simply say, “Next.”
ed conner June 26, 2012 at 01:26 PM
I have not been following this story very closely, but the headline "fight at city hall" piqued my interest. So I watched the June 18 village meeting video and read all the posts on this topic, as well as the articles and comments about Ms. Stone's coalition for safe water. Since I have no position one way or another on the issue, I think the following observations are fair and objective: First, it's hard for me to believe that more than a few dozen people are paying attention to any of this. Certainly the number is fewer than 100 people. Given that, the level of acrimony displayed by both sides (i.e. the Stone and anti-Stone sides) seems out of proportion. Clearly people are taking this way too seriously. Second, very little of the dialog from either side focuses on the substance of Ms. Stone's arguments (such as they are). They are mostly personal attacks, or irrelevancies -- such as these tangents about child abuse, Ms. Stone's family, and the like.
ed conner June 26, 2012 at 01:35 PM
Third, in watching the June 18 video, I must say that Ms. Stone displayed a level of narcissism which was truly astounding. The constant self-referential comments, the elaborate gesturing behind the podium when others were speaking, the random attacks on members of the board -- all of it -- were desperate appeals for attention like few I have ever witnessed in a public forum. Through all of it, I was not able to discern a single coherent argument. She clearly wants something, but she seems unable to tell anyone what it is. Fourth, in all articles I have read on the safe water issue, and Ms. Stone's related posts, I am still unclear about what she is trying to accomplish. There are cryptic allusions to some kind of corruption or coverup, but that is not clear. I would suggest to Ms. Stone and her coalition that if they want to get something accomplished, the first step is to state clearly and concisely what that something is. And, in future board appearances, I suggest the Ms. Stone take a tip from Rob Sherman -- in the June 18 meeting, he stated clearly and concisely what he wanted, and the Board gave it to him. What a concept! Finally, as post script to Mr. and Ms. Stone -- the implication that posting anonymously diminishes the merit of the posting is obnoxious. Similarly, posting under your own name does not elevate the merit of the posting.
Mark Bushey June 26, 2012 at 05:30 PM
The whole board should just walk away when she starts talking. The audience will follow.
Abigail June 26, 2012 at 10:21 PM
I agree, it's difficult to figure out what Ms. Stone wants when she is at that podium because of all the innuendo and attacks on current board members. If Ms. Stone would write out a speech without all the extra garbage and read it word-for-word, then people would understand what her goal is. The way it is now--her entire time at the podium is too confusing. After a couple of minutes, people shut down and don't want to hear anymore.
Sandy Klein June 27, 2012 at 12:18 AM
PART 2 - As for her family, her husband gets involved and argues about how wonderful she is and when her son got on the message board of a local newspaper and began posting terrible things about posters, and then said to one of them, "Why don't you come to my house and say that", the poster replied with, "Do you always invite strange men to your home?" That was it - she accused him of being a pedophile, spent months trying to get the paper to reveal his identity, went to court, etc. When someone else who disagreed with her accidentally bumped into her at a crowded little league game, she went to the police to file a complaint. And now this nonsense about someone trying to attack her. It might be comical if she wasn't so needy and vindictive. Her antics at the podium while others tried to speak make her look like she's in an SNL skit. Obviously there's something going on there - she doesn't exhibit normal behavior.
Sandy Klein June 27, 2012 at 12:27 AM
Ed, great points - thank you for making them. Regarding the acrimony, please understand that the rambling, the pontificating, the bragging about how superior her thoughts are over those of everyone else was something we had to put up with ad nauseum during her short tenure on our village board. Our board got nothing done just trying to deal with this whacky high maintenance, self-serving narcissist - she hijacked every meeting. She accused some of them of trying to keep important damaging information from the public and drove some board members either to doctors or to retiring from the board. We drove her out with her votes yet she insists she was wrongfully ousted.
Erica Williams June 27, 2012 at 02:53 PM
Think before you speak folks. You all sound like BULLIES. Is this what you are teaching your children?
"Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods."
Boris the Animal June 27, 2012 at 03:37 PM
Boris is NOT a bully. He has just appointed himself in charge of the entire situation as it is so out of hand. Please never question Boris
RELENTLESSCRITIC June 27, 2012 at 05:00 PM
Erica- Can't speak for anyone else, but that's not what I'm teaching my kids. I'm too busy teaching them to think critically and be able to spot phonies and poseurs no matter how much they self-promote. I'm also teaching them to make good decisions based on facts, not innuendo and baseless bluster. And finally, we're spending lots of time talking about the importance of character- including things like humility, apologizing for mistakes, not bragging, being honest and serving others. The ongoing Stone soap opera has provided us with some high quality, real-life teachable moments about what happens when people don't do some of the things mentioned above. Seems like there are some people on here whose parents didn't cover these topics with them, and now they may not be covering them with their own children. Based on many of your previous comments, I suspect your parents may have missed a few things with you. Or maybe you were distracted by shiney objects and didn't pay attention.
Sandy Klein June 28, 2012 at 12:13 AM
This from a person who claimed we were all supporters of pedophiles just because we disagree with the bad behavior of the Stones. Oh, Erica. The irony is galling.
Mark Bushey June 29, 2012 at 01:01 AM
Erica, calling people supporters of pedophiles is also hurtful and can be considered bullying. Then again, with the wussification of America, everything is considered bullying. No we are are not teaching our children to be bullies. We are teaching our children to think for themselves and not listen to a bunch of crap coming out of people's mouths. And not to look up to bull-s***ers like Mrs. Stone. It was obvious that he had no intent to strike Ms. Stone. Her and her ambulance chasing husband have the mindset of "let's make anything a crime/lawsuit." We as a nation have become so friggin' sensitive, that she could actually convince the courts that there was a crime if she tried, which is pathetic. 20 years ago, the cops would have laughed at her.
