Garden Fresh Gains Buffalo Grove Liquor License
The grocery store is also seeking a variance that will allow it to install a larger sign at the Buffalo Grove storefront.
Garden Fresh Market received approval for a liquor license Monday, bringing the store another step closer to opening in Buffalo Grove.
Grocery store officials are going through the measures required to open a Garden Fresh in The Plaza shopping center at the northwest corner of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads, in the building vacated last month by Dominick's.
"Welcome to Buffalo Grove," Village President Jeff Braiman told two Garden Fresh representatives after village officials granted the license without debate.
Garden Fresh still needs approval to instill an exterior wall sign, as the store wants to display larger letters than are allowed in the village's code, Deputy Village Manager Jenny Maltas said. That request will be reviewed by the Zoning Board of Appeals before going before the Village Board.
A permit for a ground sign has already been issued, Maltas said.
Garden Fresh has already announced its pending move to the new location, notifying shoppers with a sign at its Wheeling location that the store will be moving to Buffalo Grove. Employees have said the move is scheduled for early March.
