Public Hearing On Tollway Capital Plan

The Tollway Authority will hold a public hearing regarding its proposed $12 billion, 15-year capital plan.

Of direct interest to Lake County is proposed funding of $100 million toward planning and technical studies for the extension of Route 53 from Lake Cook Road to Route 120. The proposed capital plan maps out all of the Illinois Tollway's proposed infrastructure investments for 2012-2026.

The budget also includes new fare increases for passenger vehicles, in most cases from 40 cents to 75 cents (double that for cars without IPASS).

The hearings provide an opportunity for citizens to express their opinions about the Tollway's proposed capital plan and fare increases, before the Tollway Board votes on the plan Aug. 25.

Comments can also be submitted via the Tollway's website.
