Election Filing Ends — Meet the Candidates

Buffalo Grove will see contested races for two-year trustee term and village clerk.

The next four years of 's leadership began to take shape today (Dec. 20), when the weeklong candidate filing period came to an end at 5 p.m.

Current Trustee Jeffrey Braiman will run unopposed for village president, while incumbent trustees Steven Trilling and Jeffrey Berman will be joined by Mike Terson in uncontested races for three four-year trustee terms.

The race heats up with two residents seeking election to the two-year trustee position caused by . Andrew Stein and Denice Bocek will compete to finish the second half of the term, which until April is being filled by . Stein is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, while Bocek serves on the Plan Commission.

Meanwhile, Village Clerk Janet Sirabian will seek re-election against resident Rob Sherman. Sirabian has served as clerk since 1979.

The will have uncontested races for commissioner seats. Incumbents Rick Drazner and Larry Reiner, along with appointee Jeff Weiss, were the only candidates to file for the three open seats.

School Districts

:Incumbents Bill Dussling and Alva Kreutzer will be joined by Dan Petro, Gloria Bowman and Audrey Collins in a race for three seats.

:Incumbents Bruce Lubin, Terry Moons and Merv Roberts will be joined by district residents Kim Brady, Charles Cardella, Kathy Powell and David Weisberg in a race for four seats. The election makes the first contested election for the Stevenson School Board since the early 1990s. 

: Incumbents Staci Allan, Pamela Becker Dean and Kathy Edmonds will run unopposed for three seats.

:Incumbent John Rouleau, Elizabeth Dietz and district residents Lauren Gordon and Rick Hazan will run for three seats.

: Incumbents Ellyn Ross and Steve Lefar and district residents Alan Rubenstein and Scott Linn will run for three seats.
