Dold Raises $540,000 for Schneider Rematch

Former Congressman gets quick start in what promises to be expensive race.

By Steve Sadin

Former Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) will report raising more than $540,000 for the quarter ended June 30 as he builds his war chest for a rematch with Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) in 2014, according to an article in the Daily Herald.

Dold began his campaign May 10 though he announced a fundraising effort for the potential run shortly before that, according to reports on Patch. Dold served one term in the House of Representatives before losing a close election to Schneider in November.

Dold and Schneider are both required to file their fundraising results with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) Sunday. A Schneider spokesperson said the Congressman will likely announce his results at that time.

Schneider and Dold will need all the money they can raise for a race that promises to be hotly contested and expensive. During the 2012 campaign, $13.1 million was spent by the candidates and groups supporting them, according to reports on Patch.
