Berman Shares Concerns About Assault Weapon Ban

Buffalo Grove Trustee Jeff Berman spoke for nearly 20 minutes about a proposed assault weapon ban that village officials considered in June.

Whether Buffalo Grove will adopt stricter regulations for assault weapons in the village is yet to be determined, but an ordinance that trustees approved July 15 makes it a possibility.

So far, trustees have indicated a hesitance to adopt an ordinance that would hold residents in the Lake County side of the village to the same regulations already in place across Cook County.

Some have voiced concerns about using Cook County's model as a guide for the village. At an initial discussion in June, Trustee Jeff Berman spent nearly 20 minutes outlining his questions and concerns. His comments are featured in the attached video.

Berman, along with trustees Steve Trilling and Mike Terson, were in the minority when the Village Board approved 4-3 this week an ordinance that will allow Buffalo Grove to change its gun regulations at a later date.
