Wheeling Fire Causes Evacuations, Road Closure

Emergency crews are responding to a reported fire at a warehouse on the 400 block of Deniston Court in Wheeling.

A fire was extinguished Thursday morning in Wheeling before it ignited nearby propane storage tanks, the Daily Herald reported.

The situation sparked the evacuation of Mark Twain Elementary School and six businesses in the village's industrial district as emergency responders handled the situation, according to the newspaper.

Police and firefighters responded around 8 a.m. Thursday to a report of a chemical tank fire in Wheeling, the Arlington Cardinal reports.

Wheeling Road is closed south of Dundee Road as emergency crews respond, ABC7 reported at 8:38 a.m. The station described the situation as a warehouse fire.

The Arlington Cardinal reports that a tanker truck is on fire next to a warehouse at 440 Deniston Court. Nearby homes and businesses are being evacuated, according to the website.
