Vehicle Burglarized, FBI Agent Impersonated

ALCOHOL

Vincent R. Mostrowski, 46, of the 4000 block of Old Orchard, Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit and improper lane use at 12:58 a.m. Nov. 2 at Arlington Heights and Dundee roads.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 400 block of Mayfair Lane reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS device and an iPod while the vehicle was parked in his driveway overnight between Nov. 1-2.

FRAUD 

A resident reported receiving a call Oct. 31 from a man claiming to be Officer John Adams with the FBI. The caller stated the resident owed back taxes for failing to file his taxes properly and that he needed to pay $1,225 to avoid prosecution. The caller directed him to Walgreens to purchase MoneyPaks for that amount. Officers explained to the resident that this was a scam.

IDENTITY THEFT

A complainant reported someone opened several cell phone accounts in his name between Oct. 1 and Nov. 4. The complainant was given information on reporting the incidents to the credit bureaus. 

PHONE HARASSMENT 

A resident reported receiving disturbing text messages from an acquaintance between Nov. 2-4. Officers will contact the acquaintance and advise him to stop all communication.
