Suspicious Vehicles, Stolen Toolbox Reported in Buffalo Grove

COMPLAINTS
A complainant on the 600 block of Grove reported hearing a humming noise at 3 p.m. Jan. 17. Officers determined that the noise was coming from the basement and was possibly coming from the boiler or furnace.
A complainant on the 1300 block of Busch Parkway reported a trailer was parked in his business’s lot at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 24. Officers contacted the owner and told him to move the trailer.

DISPUTE
A taxi driver reported that his passenger only partially paid for the fare at 7:58 p.m. Jan. 24 on the 100 block of Armstrong. Officers contacted the passenger, who paid the remaining amount to the driver.
FOUND PROPERTY

A complainant reported Jan. 26 that a red Roadmaster 18-speed men’s bicycle had been leaning up against a tree for several days. Officers brought the bike back to police headquarters for safekeeping.
PUBLIC SERVICE
A Metra rider reported leaving a bag with a Kindle inside it on the train at 3:40 p.m. Jan. 24. Officers located the bag and returned it to the owner.
SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALL
A resident reported receiving a phone call from someone stating he was his grandson, Michael. The resident immediately became suspicious and hung up because he does not have a grandson named Michael.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLES
A complainant reported an occupied vehicle parked on the side of the road at 1:57 a.m. Jan. 24 on the 100 block of Forest. Officers confirmed that the occupants lived in the area.
A complainant reported an occupied vehicle that was parked next to a dumpster at 12:15 a.m. Jan. 23 on the 200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. Officers contacted the driver who was drinking a cup of coffee that she had just purchased.
THEFT
A complainant reported Jan. 23 that her iPhone was taken after she left it at a business. The phone’s location was discovered through the Find My Phone app and it was retrieved.
A toolbox was reportedly stolen from an unlocked vehicle between Jan. 12-22 on the 1200 block of Devonshire.
