Stone Enters Guilty Plea, Avoids Jail Time

June 5 plea deal allows former Buffalo Grove trustee Lisa Stone to avoid possible jail time and higher fines.

Former Buffalo Grove trustee Lisa Stone pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to one count of violating an order of protection, the Lake County News-Sun reports.

She will be required to pay a $400 fine, make a $200 donation to A Safe Place, perform 50 hours of community service and obtain a psychiatric treatment plan, the newspaper reports.

Stone was given one year of court supervision and was ordered “not to have any harassing contact with her father and no contact with her stepmother,” according to the News-Sun.

Stone was charged with three criminal misdemeanor counts of violating an order of protection in March. Her stepmother requested an emergency order of protection in February on behalf of herself and Stone’s father, after she received what she told police were harassing and threatening phone calls from Stone.

Stone pleaded not guilty to the charges in March. Her June 5 plea deal allowed her to avoid possible jail time and higher fines.

During a March court hearing, Stone’s stepmother, Barbara Shuman, agreed to lift the order of protection for her husband, but asked that it remain in place for herself.
