Route 83 Reopens After Car Hits Utility Pole

Route 83 was closed for several hours Wednesday after a driver crashed into a ComEd pole near Pauline Avenue.

Route 83 was closed for about six hours Wednesday after a vehicle drove off the road and struck a utility pole near Pauline Avenue.

The pole “was leaning at a pretty precarious angle,” Buffalo Grove Deputy Police Chief Steve Husak said.

The road was closed around 2 p.m. between Lake-Cook and Buffalo Grove roads until ComEd crews could repair the pole, which feared might topple over completely. Route 83 reopened around 8 p.m., Husak said.
