Police Seek Applicants for Summer Junior Academy

Residents ages 12-15 will learn about many aspects of law enforcement.

Youths interested in law enforcement, criminal justice and police science are invited to participate in the 's Junior Police Academy this summer.

Participants will discover what it's like to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, gather evidence at a crime scene, be a K-9 handler and more. The Police Department is currently accepting applications for the summer session of the academy.

One of the goals of the academy is to help participants better understand how the Police work in their community. Participants will get to know more about the men and women who are protecting their community and their day-to-day activities and responsibilities.

The academy is scheduled from 10 a.m. to nooon June 13-17 at the police department, where participants will learn from discussions, demonstrations and hands-on class participation. The program is provided to the community at no cost and class size is limited to 20 participants. Applicants must be ages 12 to 15 and live or attend school in Buffalo Grove.

Applications are available at the front desk of the Buffalo Grove Police Department located at 46 Raupp Boulevard or online on the police page of the village
website
and are due by June 1.
