Police Charge Five with Selling Alcohol to Minors

After running compliance checks at 53 Buffalo Grove businesses, police charged five employees with selling alcohol to customers under 21.

Employees at five Buffalo Grove businesses were charged Thursday with selling alcohol to underage customers.

The arrests came after police directed underage agents to attempt to purchase alcohol from 53 businesses that either sell packaged liquor or serve alcoholic beverages. The directive was part of the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s ongoing effort to curtail the sale of liquor to minors, the department said in a press release. The department also conducts annual alcohol awareness seminars for business owners and their employees, the release said.

Cited with violating a village ordinance that prohibits the sale of alcohol to minors were employees at Walgreens, Swad of India, Wyndham Garden Hotel, Kum Kang San and Hakuya Sushi. All five have Feb. 8 court dates at the Lake County courthouse in Mundelein.
