Police Blotter: Water Bottle Thrown at Bike, Light Fixture Unscrewed

ANIMALS
A person turned over a small white poodle mix, with a choker chain and a purple cloth leash, The dog was found at 11:50 a.m. June 12 on the 400 block of Thompson Boulevard. The dog, which had no tags and no chip, was taken to King’s Kennel.
COMPLAINT
A resident of the 2400 block of Chambourd Drive reported a solicitor in the area at 5:40 p.m. June 12. An officer located the person, who did not have a permit. The officer requested that he stop and gave him instructions for obtaining a permit. The solicitor left the area.

A resident reported that he and his daughter were riding their bicycles at 7:50 p.m. June 12 at Raupp Boulevard and Stillwell Drive when the occupants of a black Jeep Cherokee Laredo threw a water bottle at them. The bottle struck the front wheel of the bike. The resident has seen the Jeep before and said he would call 911 should he see it again.
DISPUTE

A representative from a management company on the 1-100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road requested that officers check a foreclosed residence to see if anyone was living in it. An officer spoke with a person who stated that though the unit has been foreclosed, his mother is working with the bank to rent the unit. The management company was advised and they will have their attorney follow up.
A complainant reported that she pulled in front of another car in the drive-through at 12:20 p.m. June 12 because that car was not moving. The driver of that car then yelled at her for cutting in. The other driver stated that the line was backed up and he left a space for other cars in the parking lot to pass through. He admitted that words were exchanged.
A resident of the 1000 block of Courtland Drive reported June 12 that she left her garbage can near the curb the previous evening and the next morning someone moved the can in front of her garage door, causing her to run into it while backing out. When she asked her neighbor why he moved the can, he stated that he wanted the can away from his driveway. The neighbor then called her names and went inside. The resident only wanted the incident documented.
DRUGS
Mark Y. Leyderman, 19, of the 1-100 block of Wakefield, Buffalo Grove, was charged with possession of cannabis at 2 p.m. June 11 on the 1200 block of Gail Drive.
FOUND ITEM
A resident of the 400 block of Newtown Drive reported that she found a black and blue purse on her front lawn at 8 a.m. June 12. An officer contacted the owner’s mother, who came to the station to pick up the purse.
MISSING PERSON
A mother reported June 11 that her 15-year-old son went to school and has not returned home for three days. Officers checked with various friends and ultimately located the boy. Youth officers spoke with the mother, who requested the boy be sent to the hospital for an evaluation. Paramedics responded and transported the boy to the hospital.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
A resident of the 1-100 block of Dellmont Court reported that someone damaged the sensor light by unscrewing the light from its base and unscrewing the bulbs between 10:30 p.m. June 11 and 5 p.m. June 12. The resident has no problems with any of his neighbors.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE
A resident reported that she was driving home from a park at 4:10 p.m. June 12 and noticed a white sedan following her on the 1200 block of North Arlington Heights Road. The resident pulled into a parking lot and the car followed and was still there. An officer spoke with the driver of the white sedan, who stated that he thought the resident was someone else. That driver was checked and found to have no criminal history.
THEFT
The owner of a company on the 1200 block of Busch Parkway reported an unused computer missing from the floor of the programming room between June 7 and June 9. The owner stated that only an employee could have been committed the theft. Security video showed an employee walking out of the building with a cardboard box that could contain the computer. The owner will conduct an internal investigation to determine if charges should be pursued.
UNWANTED PERSON
A complex manager at Villa Verde reported that there might be an intoxicated person who has been sleeping in a storage room. The manager believes that a resident in that building allows the person in at night. Management will encourage the residents of that building to call 911 immediately should they see the person.
VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION
Roberto I. Ortiz, 23, of the 5000 block of North Ridgeway, Chicago, was charged with violating an order of protection at 9 p.m. June 12 at the after an incident on June 2.
