Police Blotter: Waste Hauler Keeps a Watchful Eye

ASSAULT

A man reported that while at a sporting event with his fiancé at 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at , the fiancé’s ex-husband approached him in the parking lot and threatened bodily harm. An officer spoke with the ex-husband’s attorney, who will advise his client to cease contact with the complainant and the ex-wife. The ex-wife will seek an order of protection.

BURGLARY

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed a number of partially used gift cards and $20 between 9 p.m. Feb. 25 and 9 a.m. Feb. 26 on the 600 block of Sycamore Road.

COMPLAINT

A complainant reported that three teens who did not live there were loitering in the vestibule at 4:50 p.m. Feb. 28 on the 700 block of Grove Drive. The teens threatened the complainant when he advised them to leave. The complainant took a photo of the teens and it will be forwarded to the high school resource officer.

A resident of the 1300 block of Brandywyn Lane reported at 6:20 p.m. Feb. 28 that a contractor was knocking on her door and would not leave. The contractor said he was called by the resident to repair the garage door. He did not have all of the required parts, so he opened the door in order to get the cars out. When the contractor returned, the resident had another contractor repair the door. The contractor said he was due $20 for his efforts in the morning. Since there was no agreement, the contractor left without further incident.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported receiving harassing text messages from her ex-husband on Feb. 19 and said this is an ongoing problem. The resident has been attempting to block the ex’s number without success. An officer will follow up with the ex.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/PERSON

A garbage truck operator reported a vehicle in a driveway with its door partially open at 1:50 p.m. Feb. 28 on the 900 block of Providence Lane. There was no garbage at the curb and the driveway had not been cleaned of snow. There were marks on the top part of the weather stripping indicating somebody may have forced the glass back to gain entry. An officer left a message for the resident to check the car and determine if anything was missing. 

A resident reported a man came to his door at 3:25 p.m. Feb. 28, apologized and said that he was at the wrong address. The man then drove away in a silver car. Officers checked the area with negative results.

A resident of the 200 block of Anthony Road reported seeing three men standing in a neighbor’s driveway at 6:50 p.m. Feb. 28. The men later departed eastbound in a large white box truck. Officers checked the area with negative results. All seemed secure at the neighbor’s residence.

THEFT

A resident reported that it appeared that an acquaintance who lived with him for a short time made 13 unauthorized charges, totaling $3,482.61, on the resident’s credit card between Feb. 8 and Feb. 22.

A  student reported he placed his backpack in an unlocked gym locker at 11 a.m. Feb. 6. The backpack contained a Nintendo 3DS portable game console and 11 games. When the student returned to the locker at 2 p.m., he found those items missing. The school resource officer was notified.

OTHER INCIDENTS

PADS officials requested assistance in checking a guest at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at . It was determined that the guest had an active order of protection against him that had not been served. The order was served and explained.
