Police Blotter: Underage Drinking, House Reported Egged — On Easter

These were among the reports released April 25 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

ALCOHOL

Angelina J. Pfister, 18, of the 1600 block of North Yale Avenue, Arlington Heights, was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 2:55 a.m. April 23 on Dundee Road east of Weidner Road.

Elinor Mahlis, 20, of the 1100 block of Emerson Place, Vernon Hills, was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 2:55 a.m. April 23 on Dundee Road east of Weidner Road.

A 16-year-old Rolling Meadows resident was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor and curfew violation at 2:55 a.m. April 23 on Dundee Road east of Weidner Road.

Alexander R. Hart, 21, of the 2400 block of West Dugdale Road, Waukegan, was charged with illegal transportation of open liquor and arrested on a warrant for aggravated battery at 2:55 a.m. April 23 on Dundee Road east of Weidner Road.

A 14-year-old Arlington Heights resident was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor and curfew violation at 12:50 a.m. April 24 on the 1-100 block of East Dundee Road.

A 15-year-old Arlington Heights resident was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor and curfew violation at 12:50 a.m. April 24 on the 1-100 block of East Dundee Road.

ANIMALS

Northwest Community Hospital reported at 1:30 p.m. April 23 that a 12-year-old resident had been bitten by a neighbor’s dog. The boy stated that the neighbor let the dog out of the house and it ran into the boy’s yard and bit the boy in both legs. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who produced a valid rabies vaccination tag and was given instructions on the examination of the dog immediately and again in 10 days.

A resident reported that a young subject was walking a pit bull, which she believed the subject could not control, at 7:50 p.m. April 23 on the 600 block of Marseilles Circle. An officer located the boy, who was walking a Rottweiler and appeared to be having difficulty controlling the dog. The dog and boy returned home and the mother was advised that it was against a village ordinance for anyone under 16 to walk a Rottweiler.

ATTEMPTED SCAM

A complainant reported April 21 that he received a check in the mail as deposit for a band gig, which was arranged for over the Internet. The sender told the complainant to deposit the check and then return $2,200 of the $3,000 check. The complainant was advised not to send the money and not to draw any monies from the bank, where he had already deposited the check. 

BATTERY

Sami Sous, 58, of the 600 block of Trace Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with domestic battery at 4:50 p.m. April 22.

BURGLARY

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle between 12:30-6:30 a.m. April 23 on the 1200 block of East Deerfield Parkway and removed a wallet and navigation system.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Michael J. Santi, 56, of the 1500 block of East Rand Road, Arlington Heights, was charged with disorderly conduct at 8:15 ap.m. April 24 on the 100 block of Downing Road.

DISPUTE

A resident reported April 23 that she dropped her shoes off for repairs at on April 20, and when she returned several times in an attempt to pick them up, the store was closed. An officer stated that the store may be closed due to the holidays.

An employee at a business on the 1-100 block of East Dundee Road reported that a male subject was asked to leave the premises and refused to do so at 3:30 p.m. April 23. The subject told the officer that he was there to obtain an invoice for a car that his son bought. The officer told the subject that this is a civil matter and that he needs to leave which he did.

HOMELESS SUBJECTS

An employee at Northwest Community Hospital’s office reported April 22 that a tent was set up in the wooded area behind the building on the 100 block of Lake-Cook Road. An officer located the tent and two subjects inside. The subjects stated they were homeless and living in the tent. They then left without incident.

NOISE COMPLAINT

A resident of the 700 block of Grove Drive reported banging, stomping and furniture moving in the upstairs neighbor’s apartment at 10:40 p.m. April 24. An officer spoke with the upstairs neighbor who stated that she had been sleeping and was not making any noise.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone threw eggs at the windows and siding of a home on the 500 block of Crown Point Court between 10 p.m. April 23 and 9:40 a.m. April 24. The rear of the resident’s vehicles were also egged.

SOLICITOR 

A resident of the 900 block of Saybrook Lane reported that two male subjects that were soliciting door-to-door at 1:25 p.m. April 23. Officers located the subjects, who were soliciting for National Energy Contractors and did not have a village permit. They were asked to stop until a permit was issued.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident reported April 23 that she has been finding the cover to her garage door keypad open once or twice a month since last October. The keypad does not work.

SUSPICIOUS/HARASSING PHONE CALLS

A resident reported April 21 that she received a phone call telling her that she won a raffle drawing, and that she was to go to an address in Gurnee to pick up her prize. An officer checked and found the solicitation call came from a Travel Club, AB Vacations.

A resident reported April 21 that he received two calls over the past two days from a male subject with a heavy Indian accent. The caller told the resident that she had won a contest. Believing the call to be a scam, the resident told the caller that she would be calling the police and hung up. The phone number came back as disconnected with Verizon Wireless.

THEFT

A resident reported finding unauthorized charges on the statement of her bank account between April 17-22. The resident was advised to contact the bank. 

A complainant reported that he closed the doors to his business on April 15 and when he returned April 23, he found that 15 business computers were gone. The computers are valued at $10,000.
