A resident of the 100 block of Bernard Drive found a female Golden Retriever in her backyard at 1:10 p.m. Oct. 31. The dog did not have any collar, tags or chip and she was taken to Kings Kennel.
A resident of the 800 block of Saybrook Lane reported Oct. 31 that his neighbor was leaving food outside to feed feral cats. An officer spoke with the neighbors who stated that they are registered with the village to trap feral cats. The neighbor was advised about skunks in the area and told to be careful when leaving food outside.
A resident of the 500 block of Lyon Drive reported that someone entered his vehicle and removed the navigation system between 8 p.m. Oct. 29 and 7 a.m. Oct. 31. The resident was unsure whether the vehicle was unlocked but there were no signs of forced entry.
A resident of the 1100 block of Gail Drive reported that a white sedan was speeding with its lights off and its occupants were throwing toilet paper around at 6:55 p.m. Oct. 31. The resident confronted the driver, who was described as a male between 16-18 years old. The driver told the resident that he was sorry for speeding and he said he would leave the area.
A resident reported that she received three checks totaling $5,800 from her employer between May 9 and July 1. The resident attempted a number of times to cash the checks but they were returned as account closed. The resident has spoken to the employer who assured the resident the she will be paid, but he has not done so. The resident was advised to send a request for payment by certified mail, and police will follow up when the resident gets a return receipt.
Marnie N. Brooks, 25, of the 500 block of Manda Lane, Wheeling, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 12:05 a.m. Nov. 1 on eastbound Dundee Road at Golfview Terrace.

A resident reported that he has been receiving threatening text messages from his ex-girlfriend’s father. The father resides at an unknown address in Texas. An officer left a voicemail message for the father.
A Buffalo Grove Park District employee reported that someone spray-painted graffiti on the pathway at Cherbourg Park between Oct. 26-31.
While conducting a premise check on Oct. 31, an officer found new graffiti on a rear entry door at a business on the 800 block of Buffalo Grove Road. An officer contacted the property manager and advised him to have the graffiti removed.
A resident of the 700 block of Grove Drive reported that someone used a sharp object to make scratches around the entire exterior perimeter of his car between 5 p.m. Oct. 28 and 9 a.m. Oct. 29.
A resident reported a gray El Camino with tinted windows driving around at 3:20 p.m. Oct. 31 in the neighborhood of Sheridan Road and Twin Oaks Boulevard. The resident told police that the vehicle displayed two different license plates. An officer ran two possible combinations of the license plate provided and both came back with no record on file. Officers checked the neighborhood for the vehicle with negative results.
A resident reported Oct. 31 that someone hacked her email account and her online dating account. An officer was unable to reach the resident’s acquaintance, whom she thought may have been responsible. The officer checked the resident’s computer and found an active antivirus app, and inappropriate window sizing on her Internet Explorer. The officer made corrections and also scheduled a recurring virus scan to be done on her computer each week.
