Police Blotter: Trouble with Landlord, Ex-Husband

CIVIL MATTER

A resident reported Dec. 10 that her former landlord came to the house and blocked the driveway to prevent her from leaving. The former landlord wanted access to the house in order to remove appliances, and requested back rent. The house is in foreclosure and the resident has been making rent payments to the bank. The former landlord will not be granted access unless there is a proper order to do so. 

THEFT

A resident reported Dec. 9 that her debit card was fraudulently used at four locations in California, for a total amount of $274.82. The account has been closed and the funds have been reimbursed by the bank.

VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION

A resident reported Dec. 10 that she has an active order of protection against her ex-husband which states that the ex is not to have any contact with the resident and their daughter. The ex sent a text message to the resident in violation. The assistant state’s attorney was contacted and stated that charges would be appropriate. The ex was advised to go to the police station to be processed.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A daughter told police Dec. 10 that she has not been able to reach her mother on the home phone or the mother’s cell phone. Officers received no answer at the door. Entry to the home was made and found to be in order with no one inside. There was no car in the garage. The house was secured and the daughter was notified.
