Police Blotter: Three Teens Charged with Marijuana Possession

ALCOHOL

Sally L. Niehaus, 48, of the 200 block of North Rand Road, Palatine, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield turning left, driving on an expired license and registration, and driving without insurance at 2:15 a.m. Feb. 13 on eastbound Lake-Cook Road at Weiland Road.

An official at Blockbuster Video, 686 S. Buffalo Grove Road, reported that a customer was yelling and making threats at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 13. When the official called 911, the patron left the store. An officer spoke with both parties and determined that the two know each other and have an ongoing feud. Both were advised to stay away from each other.

DRUGS

A resident reported a dark-colored Ford sport utility vehicle parked at 12:30 a.m. Feb. 14 on the 100 block of Forest Place with multiple occupants. An officer located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, the officer noted a strong odor of burnt cannabis coming from the inside the vehicle. Recovered from the vehicle was an open can of beer, a multicolored glass water bong, a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance that field-tested positive for cannabis, and a pair of brass knuckles.

Charged were:

  • A 16-year-old Arlington Heights resident, possession of marijuana;
  • Brandon G. Miller, 19, of the 100 block of Forest Place, Buffalo Grove, possession of marijuana and possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor;
  • Kyle J. Bays, 19, of the 1200 block of North Yale, Arlington Heights, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A school bus driver heard something hit the bus and found a passenger window broken at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 13 on East Dundee Road at Saxon Place. Neither the driver nor the students saw anyone that may have caused the damage.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/NOISE

A complainant reported an unknown person was in the office, after business hours at 9:35 p.m. Feb. 12 on the 1200 block of North McHenry Road. The complainant showed the officer a woman sitting at a computer, entering data. The officer spoke with the woman who stated that she knows the complainant and he had given her permission to use the office and computer. The complainant stated that he does not want the woman on his premises any longer and she was so advised.

A complainant reported Feb. 13 that he received a call from a bank requesting that he make payment on a $36,000 loan, and then received a call from another bank asking him to make payment on a $34,000 loan. When the complainant inquired as to what the loans were for he was advised they were for the purchase of two cars. The complainant did not purchase any cars and did not sign for any loans.

A resident of the 1200 block of Farnsworth Lane reported that while upstairs in her home at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 13 she heard footsteps on the first-floor hardwood floor near the kitchen. Officers checked the residence and found no one inside. A kitchen cabinet was found partly open.
