Police Blotter: 'They Slammed the Door on Me, But Didn't Say No'

These were among the reports released April 8 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

BATTERY

A victim and his friends reported that a car drove quickly through the parking lot at Culver’s, 450 McHenry Road, at 8:50 p.m. April 6. The victim yelled at the driver to slow down. The car stopped and the driver got out, grabbed the victim by the neck and then punched the victim in the head. The victim did not get a license plate nor did he know the offender.

SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALL

A resident received a call from a female subject who stated that she needed the resident’s Social Security number at 12:45 p.m. April 7. The resident’s daughter then asked why the caller needed the number and the caller could not give a valid reason. The daughter hung up.

THEFT

Krystian G. Binkowski, 22, of the 1700 block of Forest Cove, Mount Prospect, was charged with two counts of retail theft, Class 3 felonies, following incidents on March 14 and March 28 at Dominick’s, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road.

A resident of the 900 block of Old Arlington Heights Court reported that someone removed the spare tire from under his SUV between Jan. 1 and April 4. The resident stated he did not know where or when the theft occurred.

UNWANTED PERSON

An official at a business on the 1300 block of North Arlington Heights Road stated that someone had plugged their car into one of the school’s exterior outlets between April 4-7. An officer located the car and owner. The owner stated that his alternator was not working and he had to recharge his car on the way to work. When asked why he did not ask for permission, the owner stated that he tried to do so several days ago, but the official slammed the door on him. The car owner was told that should have been taken as a “no.” He was told to depart and not return.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A school resource officer from Gages Lake requested a check for well being on a student who the mother claimed was kidnapped by a friend at 8:35 a.m. April 7. Officers made contact with the student who stated she spent the night with friends and overslept. The student stated that she had called the school and spoke with a counselor. This was confirmed. “Kidnapped by a friend” was a figure of speech.
