COMPLAINT

An officer located a van with youths soliciting funds for Youth Work Force/Youth Job Program out of North Chicago at 7:25 p.m. Dec. 6 on West Canterbury Lane. The driver was advised that they cannot solicit without a permit and they left the area.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A resident reported Dec. 6 that he lost his debit card a year ago, and did not report the matter to the bank. The bank contacted the resident this week to tell him of ongoing activity with the account. The bank has canceled the account.

THEFTS

A complainant reported that she left her wallet in an unlocked locker between 8:30-10:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Buffalo Grove Fitness Center. When she returned, the wallet was gone. A staff member found the wallet near a pile of towels and all that was missing was $4.  The complainant said she will still cancel her credit cards and place a fraud alert with the credit bureaus.

A resident reported that someone used his credit card to make six online purchases in the amount of $445.81 between Dec. 2-6. The card was canceled and the bank made a refund. A check with the credit bureaus indicated nothing unusual.

A loss prevention official at Dominick’s reported a woman took merchandise and left the store without paying at 4:20 p.m. Dec. 6.  The person admitted to the theft, apologized for her actions and paid for the item. No complaints were signed.
