Police Blotter: Theft

ARRESTS
Michael Krotman, 59, of the 600 block of Grove Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with retail theft. The incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. on Dec. 28 at Dominick’s, 770 South Buffalo Grove Road.

Sean T. Bjornson, 48, of the 200 block of Hiawatha Drive, Buffalo Grove, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for failure to appear. The incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.

Nelli Abzalova, 34, of the 1200 block of Antieam Drive, Long Grove, was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and speeding. The incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 28 on Lake Cook Road at Northgate.

Adam Jared Weiss, 26, of the 600 block of Stanford Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disregarding a stop sign. He was stopped at 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 29 on Happfield Drive and Arlington Heights Road.

Chavez Silvia Montes, 29, of the 20100 block of West Route 22, Long Grove, was charged with having no valid driver’s license. He was stopped at 8:10 p.m. on Dec. 30 on McHenry Road at Deerfield Parkway.

Alarm

Officers responded to an alarm at the Chase Bank branch inside the Dominick’s grocery store at 1160 West Lake Cook Road and found that a door behind the service counter was propped open at 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 28. And officer checked the bank area and found nothing out of place, and the door was secured. No official information was available.

Attempted Burglary

A resident of the 1300 block of Westchester Road reported that when he returned home, he found pry marks on the side and rear doors. The incident occured between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Dec. 28. No entry was gained.

Attempted Theft
An employee at Jewel, 79 North McHenry Road, saw a male subject leave the store with a hand basket at 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 30. When the employee ran after the subject, the subject dropped two packs of cigarettes. The subject left in a vehicle and the employee got the license plate. The registration came back to a rental company.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle
A resident in the 1-100 block of Wakefield Lane stated that when he returned from a trip, he found the front windshield of his vehicle cracked, and the rear windshield shattered. He said the incident occurred between Dec. 18 and Dec. 28 There was a brick in the back seat but nothing was missing from the car.  

Dispute
A complainant met with his girlfriend’s ex-husband and the meeting turned into an argument at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 28. When the complainant was leaving, the ex kicked the complainant’s car at the Shell station, 1200 North Arlington Heights Road. The ex told the officer that the complainant had disrespected him in front of his son and that he wanted an apology from the complainant. The ex was told that no apology could be forced.  Both were advised to stay away from each other.

Dog Bite
A resident stated that while walking he came upon a group walking a dog in the 100 block of Newfield Drive at 10:40 a.m. on Dec. 30. When the resident passed the group, the dog bit the resident in the leg. The dog sitter was provided with the information required following a bite and she compensated the resident for his torn pants.

Information for Police
A resident 900 block of Hobson Drive reported that he paid $1,300.00 as a deposit for home repairs, and the contractor has not started work. He reported that the incident occurred between Nov. 20 and Dec. 29. The resident has tried to contact the contractor without success.

Investigation
A Buffalo Grove esident stated that her ex-husband gave their daughter an iPhone which shares information with the ex-husband's phone. The daughter found photographs of naked adults on the account between Dec. 24 and Dec. 29. The ex-husband stated that when he learned that the daughter found the photographs, he had the daughter’s phone disconnected from his information.

Retail Theft
A loss prevention official at Dominick’s, 770 South Buffalo Grove Road, reported observing a male subject place a bottle of liquor into a black bag. Then after purchasing a loaf of bread, he left the store without paying for the liquor at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 28. The subject was arrested and charged.

Theft from Vehicle
A resident on Oak Creek Drive reported that when he returned to his car, he found that the hood, shift knob and parts from the trunk were missing. The reported theft occurred occurred between 2 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 28.

Theft
An employee of Outback Steakhouse, 720 West Lake Cook Road, stated that he locked his gray hybrid mountain bike in the enclosed dumpster area between 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 and 10 p.m. on Dec. 29. When he was leaving, found the bike gone.
