Police Blotter: Tequila Stolen, Van Follows Cyclist

COMPLAINT

A resident of Oak Creek Drive reported July 24 that she spoke with her upstairs neighbors asking them to stop throwing cigarettes off the balcony. The resident stated that she was met with hostility. When the resident returned to her unit, she found that the upstairs neighbors had poured water off the balcony soaking her patio chairs and table. Officers spoke with the upstairs neighbors, who were argumentative and denied throwing anything off the balcony. Officer advised the neighbors to make sure nothing else goes over the railing. 

CURFEW VIOLATION

A 14-year-old Glenview boy was cited for curfew violation at 3:10 a.m. July 25 after a employee reported a young man had been walking around the store for more than an hour. Officers spoke with the young man, who stated that he had walked from Glenview to Buffalo Grove. Glenview police were contacted and they stated that the boy was missing from their town. When officers attempted to place the boy into the squad car, he took off running. The boy was subsequently caught, taken to the station, and his parents picked him up. 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident reported that a white van followed his 15-year-old son as he rode his bike from Wheeling to his home near Dundee Road and Cambridge Drive at 10:55 p.m. July 24. The boy could not provide a description of the driver.   

THEFT

A security officer at reported that security video footage showed a male subject left the store without paying for six bottles of tequila at 6:20 p.m. July 21.

WELL-BEING CHECK

Officers responded a business at 5 p.m. July 24 on the 1200 block of West Dundee Road after a woman who called 911 and stated that someone was messing with her head. Officers did not locate anyone who appeared to need help. Officers determined who the cell phone owner was through the cell provider, and went to the residence. They spoke with the woman who appeared somewhat disoriented but did not appear to be a danger to herself or anyone else. 

OTHER INCIDENTS

A special agent from Immigration and Customs Enforcement requested that an officer accompany him to serve a deportation warrant on a resident at 7:20 a.m. July 24. The resident’s father stated that his son was not at home. 

A complainant reported July 24 that he leased a piece of equipment to a resident and the resident did not return the equipment on the agreed upon date. An officer spoke with the resident who apologized, stating that he thought the return date was at a later time. The resident contacted the complainant and made arrangements to return the equipment. 

Officers responded to a call of a resident that was not feeling numb and unwell at 5:30 p.m. July 24. Paramedics told police that the residence was in disarray and posed several threats to the community. Clothing and papers covered much of the floors and it appeared that a layer of mold covered the walls of the master bathroom. The resident was transported to the hospital and the Health Department was notified.
