Police Blotter: Spirited Dog Bailed Out of Jail

ANIMALS

A resident found a golden retriever in her front yard. The dog did not have a collar or tags but was wearing a Halloween bandana. The dog was taken to the police station and placed into a mini cell. Police said the owner later bailed the dog out.

BURGLARY

Bahador Tanzif, 22, of the 400 block of Manda Lane, Wheeling, was indicted by a grand jury for burglary Oct. 19 at the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows following an incident Sept. 7 in Buffalo Grove. The investigation began when a resident of the 1-100 block of Crestview Terrace reported seeing a suspicious vehicle and one of its occupants looking at houses.

Residents of the 400 block of Springside Lane returned home at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 25 to find the front door ajar. The residents found a front window open with the screen opened, and mud and a leaf on the carpet near the window. Jewelry was reported missing from a nightstand drawer in the master bedroom.

A resident of the 300 block of Ronnie Drive reported that people were shooting air rifles and throwing knives in a back yard at 4 p.m. Oct. 25. Officers spoke with the people, who thought they were in compliance with state law, but were advised of the Buffalo Grove ordinance prohibiting the shooting of air rifles. They were admonished and the rifle was put away. There was no damage found in the area.

DUMPING

A Buffalo Grove Park District employee reported Oct. 25 that someone has been dumping household goods under the pavilion at . The items were disposed of.

FRAUD

A resident reported that he ordered a television on eBay. The box he received contained only a black belt. eBay and PayPal have been notified. The television was listed as a Phillips 46-inch LCD for which the resident paid $420.

IMPROPER SECURITY

A citizen reported a vehicle with its driver’s side door standing open at 12:55 a.m. Oct. 26 on the 800 block of Stradford Circle. An officer contacted the registered owner, who found everything in order and nothing missing.

An officer observed a garage door standing open at 1:30 a.m. Oct. 26 on the 800 block of Stradford Circle and was unable to make contact with a resident. A crime opportunity card was left behind and the door was secured by the officer.

LOST ITEM

A complainant stated that he left his wallet on the back of the car at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the . The complainant then forgot about the wallet and drove off. When he returned to the station, the clerk said that no one turned in a wallet. The wallet contained credit cards, a driver’s license, work identification and $30 cash. The credit cards were canceled.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Mitchell S. Miller, 54, of the 1000 block of Hidden Lake Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with criminal damage to property at 5:40 p.m. Oct. 25 after a complainant reported that another driver threw an object at his car, damaging the complainant’s passenger door on Deerfield Parkway and Weiland Road. The complainant took a picture of the offending vehicle with the registration in clear view. An officer contacted Miller, who hung up. The officer then went to his home, where he was arrested and charged.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 400 block of Lamont Terrace reported two women came to his door at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 25 and stated that they were there to clean his house. The resident does not have cleaning services. The women left in a vehicle. Officers checked and were unable to locate the car.
