Police Blotter: Running Car Taken from Buffalo Grove Street

COMPLAINT

A resident reported Feb. 15 that she purchased an item on Craig’s List that was not in the condition as stated during the transaction. Officers advised this is a civil matter. 

DECEPTION

A resident reported several unauthorized credit card purchases were made on his credit card between Feb. 9-17. The resident contacted the credit card company and will check with the credit agencies. 

PHONE HARASSMENT

A complainant reported receiving harassing text messages from another person between Feb. 2-14. Officers contacted the texter and advised them to stop. 

SUSPICIOUS NOISE

A resident of the 400 block of Carman reported hearing a loud noise that sounded like fireworks coming from an area northeast of her home at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 18. Officers checked the area but found nothing unusual. 

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A citizen reported a suspicious vehicle parked on the roadway at 7:05 p.m. Feb. 14 on the 500 block of Parkview. Officers responded, but the vehicle left prior to their arrival. 

THEFT

A citizen reported at 9 a.m. Feb. 18 she left left her vehicle running for 45 minutes on 2400 block of Palazzo. When she returned, the vehicle was gone.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 500 block of LaSalle reported at 5 a.m. Feb. 18 that someone threw eggs at the side of his van.

A resident of the 300 block of Cobbler reported that someone threw eggs at her vehicle while it was parked on the driveway between Feb. 17-18.

Well ... Craig's List ... it's 'buyer beware' ... no surprise whatever it was wasn't as 'pristine' as it was advertised. Now as for leaving a car running unattended for 45 minutes ... isn't there a law against leaving a motor vehicle unattended while running? What did they expect? Oh well, you can't cure stupid!

No car should be left running for 45 minutes. It's bad for the car it's horrendous for the environment and is like pouring money down the drain. I'm sorry the car got stolen but cars should not be left running for an extended period.
