Police Blotter: Resident Receives Counterfeit Money Orders

ALCOHOL

Steven R. Hudson, 18, of the 400 block of Bonhill Drive, Arlington Heights, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 12 on Villa Verde Drive, after a maintenance official reported a man sleeping in the bicycle room.

COUNTERFEIT MONEY ORDERS

A resident reported that receiving two U.S. Postal Service money orders totaling $995 delivered by UPS. The money orders were sent by an unknown person. An officer took the money orders to the post office where he learned they were counterfeit.

MISSING ITEM

A resident reported that his adopted foreign student flew home to visit her family. On her return flight on Jan. 11, all passengers were asked to get off the plane and leave their personal items behind, until repairs were made. When she returned to her seat, she found her cellphone was gone. The cellphone provider has shut off the phone.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported that her ex-boyfriend sent messages on Twitter calling her vulgar names and making other disturbing comments between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 12. An officer contacted the ex, who apologized and said he would cease all contact and messaging.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A resident of the 300 block of Windsor Drive reported an unfamiliar vehicle and occupant parked on the street at 3:50 p.m. Jan. 12. An officer contacted the person, who said he was waiting for a resident to return home so he could pick up a snow blower that he purchased over the Internet. The person was clear on the police state database.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident reported that her adult daughter left the house with her two children at 9:55 p.m. Jan. 12. The daughter was in an upset state and the mother was concerned for her grandchildren’s welfare. A local dispatch was put out. The daughter, along with her children, returned home several hours later. All were fine.
