Police Blotter: Resident Beat Up After Basketball Game

ALCOHOL/DRUGS

Troy M. Klees, 18, of the 4200 block of North Harvard, Arlington Heights, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 6:40 p.m. Sept. 9 on Villa Verde Drive after a resident reported a suspicious vehicle. An officer detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana and removed two smoking pipes and a bottle of alcohol.

Rafal Polichnowski, 38, of the 4900 block of West 112th Place, Alsip, was charged with driving under the influence, following too closely, illegal lane use and driving without insurance at 12:05 a.m. Sept. 11 on eastbound Dundee Road from Weidner Road.

ANIMALS

Someone brought a white, male Lhasa apso to at 3 p.m. Sept. 9. The dog did not have a tag or chip and was taken to Kings Kennel.

A resident found a small white male dog at 8:50 a.m. Sept. 10 on Farrington Drive and Springside Lane. The dog has a Lake County rabies tag. The county advised that the tag was too new to be in its system. The dog was scanned for a chip with negative results. The dog was taken to Kings Kennel.

BURGLARY

A resident of Villa Verde Drive reported that someone pried the rear hatch window of his vehicle between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 11. The resident was unable to determine what might be missing and stated that he would report a list of items missing at a later time.

COMPLAINT

A complainant reported Sept. 9 that a subject in the office adjacent to hers on the 800 block of South Buffalo Grove Road has been constantly smoking in that office. Officers have asked the subject several times in the past not to smoke in the building. Due to the continued complaints, the village’s health officer issued the offender a citation to appear in court.

A restaurant employee on the 1200 block of West Dundee Road reported several subjects were fighting at 8 a.m. Sept. 10. An officer spoke with the subjects and one stated that there was a heated argument over issues related to their running club. The subjects stated that there was no physical contact and they shook hands and went their separate ways.

A complainant reported loud music coming from the public address system at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 10 at . An officer spoke with an official who turned the music off.

ROBBERY

A resident reported that while walking home at 7:40 p.m. Sept. 10 on the 700 block of Checker Drive, he was asked for money by a subject. When the resident refused, the subject punched the resident in the face, knocking him to the ground. The subject then stood over the resident and again asked for the money and it was given. Officers located the offender and his friends. The offender stated that he played basketball with the resident and the resident lost and paid the offender money.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A resident reported an unknown vehicle driving through the neighborhood near Brandywyn Lane and Coventry Lane at 7 p.m. Sept. 11. A neighboring police officer stopped the vehicle and determined that the two people inside were looking for scrap metal. Buffalo Grove officers have had contact with the people in the past.

THEFT

A company official on the 1500 block of Barclay Boulevard reported that someone removed the outside rearview mirror from a 2003 Chevrolet van between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 8 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 9.

A company official on the 1100 block of McHenry Road reported Sept. 9 that someone cashed fraudulent company payroll checks totaling $1,692.51.

A resident reported receiving notice from his bank that his account was overdrawn. The resident checked and found that someone used his debit card to make purchases from Apple iTunes on Sept. 6. The account has been closed and the resident will receive a refund.

A resident of the 700 block of Patton Drive reported that someone removed a boy’s blue BMX bicycle from the driveway and two folding chairs from the front lawn between Sept. 7 and Sept. 10.

UNWANTED PERSON

A resident reported that friends called him at 10:15 p.m. Sept. 10 from the parking lot of the 600 block of Trace Drive and asked him to come outside. When the resident went outside, one of the friends threw an apple at him. The resident requested that the officer contact the friend and ask him not to bother the resident anymore, which was done.

A Bills football official reported that an individual who was no longer part of the program and was not wanted at the games, was present at 11:40 a.m. Sept. 11 at . An officer spoke with the individual, who then agreed to leave.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 1-100 block of Newfield Drive reported Sept. 10 that someone unknown spray painted a smiley face on a utility box.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A resident’s son-in-law reported Sept. 9 that the resident missed her bus and had not been seen for two days. Officers received no answer at the door and received permission from a family member to force the door open. Officers found the resident on the floor and conscious. She stated that she had fallen and could not get up. The resident was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.

A father called from out of state Sept. 9 to request that officers check on his children, whom he had not seen for an extended period. His ex-wife has full custody and the father was concerned that the children were not enrolled in school. Officers checked and found the children were in fact enrolled.

A woman reported that her 12-year-old son had been assaulted on Sept. 9. It was determined that the complainant is 86 years old and her adult son stated that his mother is acting out due to age-related issues.
