Police Blotter: Prescription Fraud; Drug, Alcohol Charges

ANIMALS

A resident of the 1200 block of Dayton Road found a white female poodle running loose in front of her house at 11:30 a.m. June 21. The dog did not have a collar and tags. The dog did have a chip, but the officer was unable to make contact with the owner. The dog was taken to Kings Kennel.

COMPLAINT
 

A complainant reported unrestrained children in a car at 5:25 p.m. June 21 on McHenry Road near Lake-Cook Road. An officer checked the area, but the car was gone. The officer called the registered owner and left a message about the complaint.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Amanda K. Herrmann, 22, of the 5000 block of Lake Dawnwood Drive, Johnsburg, was charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud (a felony) and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud (a misdemeanor) at 8 p.m. June 21 at after a pharmacist reported a woman gave a prescription for a controlled substance. The pharmacist called the physician, who stated that the prescription was counterfeit. The pharmacist also recognized the woman as the person who allegedly filled another fake prescription in May.

DRUGS/ALCOHOL
 

A resident reported a group of youths running in the street and being loud at 1 a.m. June 22 on the 1-100 block of Chestnut Terrace. Officers checked the area and located a silver jeep with three teenagers inside. Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol from the two passengers and when asked to submit to a preliminary breath test they refused. A quantity of cannabis was also located and the driver stated it was his. Charged at 2 a.m. June 22 with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor were Leo C. Cutler, 18, of the 1-100 block of Notthingham Drive, Lincolnshire, and Jacob M. McConachie, 18, of the 5800 block of Teal Lane, Long Grove. Frederic N. Freeman, 18, of the 200 block of Brampton, Lake Forest, was charged with possession of marijuana.

FOUND ITEM

A resident reported that she found a dark gray LG flip phone in a store parking lot in Long Grove. An officer called the last number received on the phone and the person who answered stated that her sister lost her phone. The sister will come by the station to pick it up.

A resident turned in a blue folding chair that had been left behind after a concert on June 21 at Rotary Green Park. The chair was placed into property at the police headquarters.

OUTSIDE ASSIST

A mother reported that her daughter, who had been reported missing, had returned home June 21 The girl stated that she had been staying with her boyfriend in Wheeling and while she was there her boyfriend struck her during an argument. The girl had scratches and redness to her arms, legs and face. The boyfriend, who was there at the time, was arrested and turned over to Wheeling police.

PHONE HARASSMENT/THREAT

The owner of a business on the 100 block of West Dundee Road reported June 21 that the daughter of a customer who fell in a store has been calling to retrieve funds for medical bills. The owner of the store stated that her insurance already paid. The caller has been rude and has been yelling on the phone. An officer spoke with the caller and advised her to stop calling. She stated she would comply and seek advice from an attorney.

A resident reported June 22 that she received a phone call from a private number and the caller made threats of bodily harm. The resident figured out that the caller was her cousin. The resident did not wish to sign complaints, but wanted the officer to speak with the cousin. The cousin apologized for his actions.

THEFT
 
A resident reported that someone used his credit card to make a Dish Network payment between June 7-11. The resident has placed a fraud alert with the credit bureaus.
