Police Blotter: Pre-Lit Pine Tree Left At Doorstep

ACCIDENT

A Northwest Water Commission worker slipped and fell, knocking himself unconscious, while exiting the water vault at 11:40 a.m. Aug. 31 at LaSalle Lane and Buffalo Grove Road. Fire personnel used a med-evac basket to hoist the victim out of the vault and he was transported to Condell Hospital.

Benito Flores-Roman, 27, of the 900 block of South Lake Street, Mundelein, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license and illegal lane use at 12:10 a.m. Sept. 1 on Dundee Road at Vernon Lane.

A resident reported that he was standing in his driveway Aug. 31 when his neighbor came home, got out of his car and stared at the resident, making the resident uncomfortable. The neighbor stated that the resident threatened to fight with him. Both have not gotten along for the past 30 years.

A resident of the 200 block of St. Mary’s Parkway reported that he saw four youths running away from his home and then found a 7-foot pre-lit pine tree sitting in front of his door at 4:35 p.m. Aug. 31. The resident did not recognize the youths or the tree.

FIRE

While at at 1:55 p.m. Aug. 31, a resident heard glass breaking and then saw flames coming from a house on the 700 block of Farrington Drive. When officers received no answer at the front door, the door was forced open. Two dogs were found inside and were transported for treatment. One of the dogs died.

LOST/FOUND ITEMS

A resident of the 600 block of Weidner Road reported Aug. 31 that a man’s silver Magna 15-speed bicycle had been lying in the bushes for the past two days. An officer retrieved the bike and placed it into property at the police station.

A resident reported that her son left his white and black Scott 26-inch, 21-gear bicycle at the bike rack at at 4 p.m. Aug. 30 and went for a walk. When he returned, the bike was gone. The bike is valued at $500.

MISSING PERSON

A resident reported that her 74-year-old father-in-law was missing from the house at 7 p.m. Aug. 31. The father-in-law suffers from Alzheimer’s and he has been wandering away from home. Officers from Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department conducted an extensive search and found the man on Aptakisic Road near Milwaukee Avenue. The resident was provided information on the .

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone threw what appeared to be white paint onto the hood of a car, the driveway and the garage roof between 8 p.m. Aug. 30 and 11:45 a.m. Aug. 31 on the 2300 block of Acorn Place.

THEFT

A employee reported someone took a plastic rain barrel between 8 a.m. Aug. 29 and 8 a.m. Aug. 30 from the rear of the pump station on the 500 block of North Arlington Heights Road.

A employee reported that a man took a bottle of alcohol and attempted to leave the store without paying at 4:50 p.m. Aug. 31. The man then paid for the alcohol. No complaints were signed.

Shannon M. Thomas, 34, of the 700 block of Birch, Vernon Hills, was arrested on a warrant issued July 27 on two counts of theft and two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud at 11:45 a.m. Aug. 31 at the .
