Police Blotter: Pharmacy Employee Charged in Connection with Missing Pills

These were among the reports released Nov. 15 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

THEFT

Kelly T. Stone, 25, of the 32300 block of Prairieview Lane, Lakemoor, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 11 after an official at Walgreens, 1701 Buffalo Grove Road, reported that pills were missing from the pharmacy's inventory from Aug. 11 to Nov. 11. A security camera footage showed Stone, a pharmacist assistant, taking pills out of a container and placing them into her pocket.

A resident reported that he parked his blue Diamondback Kalimar bicycle next to the garage of his friend's home on Oct. 30 on the 200 block of Raupp Boulevard. When we went to retrieve it on Nov. 7, it was gone. The seven-speed bike is valued at $500.

BURGLARY

Someone took a navigation system and wallet from an unlocked vehicle on the 1-100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road sometime between 10 p.m. Nov. 11 and 6 a.m. Nov. 12.

Upon returning to their home on the 2000 block of Olive Hill Drive, a resident and his son reported Nov. 12 someone had raised the living room blinds, moved the couch and left the patio door ajar. The resident also reported that someone had rummage through dressers and a closet in a bedroom, and said his Modova watch and possibly some jewelry was missing. The incident occurred sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION

Joseph E. Loiacono, 34, of the 600 block of Trace Drive, was charged with violating an order of protection at 8:45 p.m. Nov. 12 after an acquaintance reported that he showed up at her home looking for a place to sleep.

DISTURBANCE

An official at a restaurant on the 1-100 block of West Dundee Road reported that an intoxicated subject inappropriately touched a female patron, whose husband began fighting with the subject, at 1:40 a.m. Nov. 14. No complaints were signed and the subject was escorted out of the establishment.

DRUGS

A resident reported that her 23-year-old son was breathing but not responding at 2 a.m. Nov. 14. Paramedics examined the son and when he came to the son stated that he had used cocaine. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Aaron D. Hister, 19, of the 900 block of Mark Lane, Wheeling, was charged with delivery of marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of alcohol by a minor and illegal transportation of open alcohol at 2:40 a.m. Oct. 16 on Dundee Road at Golfview Terrace.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Upon responding to an active alarm at 12:20 p.m. Nov. 14 on the 100 block of Arlington Heights Road, officers found the front glass door had been shattered. A tactical search of the business determined that no one had entered the premises. A company official responded to the scene.

A 17-year-old Hawthorn Woods resident was charged with damage to village  property, illegal lane usage and driving without a valid license at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 14 on the 400 Block of Half Day Road.

ALCOHOL

A resident of the 300 block of Checker Drive reported seeing a man stagger in the street and then lay down on the grass near the curb at 3 p.m. Nov. 14. An officer located the subject, who had an overwhelming odor of alcohol coming from him.  The man's blood alcohol content was measured at .200 and he was transported to a hospital by paramedics.

TRUANCY

Police charged a 14-year-old Arlington Heights resident and 16- and 17-year-old Wheeling residents with truancy on Nov. 9 at Buffalo Grove High School.

DOG BITE

A resident of the 700 block of Indian Spring Lane stated that while she was walking in front of her house at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12  a male subject was walking a large dark gray dog on a leash. The dog lunged at the resident and bit her on the left thigh. The resident did not speak with the dog's owner because she does not speak English. Paramedics treated the puncture wound. The animal database was checked for a large gray dog in the area without success.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident reported finding a hypodermic syringe at 8:45 p.m. Nov. 13 in the parking lot of 600 Hapsfield Lane. The syringe was turned in for destruction.

A complainant requested that police stand by on Nov. 13 while she retrieved her car from her estranged husband's residence. The complainant has a court order granting her the car. The vehicle was in the driveway but the complainant did not have a key for it and the estranged husband did not answer the door.

A resident requested assistance Nov. 13 in removing her estranged husband from the residence. An officer explained that unless the husband breaks laws, the police cannot remove him from the home without a court order.
