Police Blotter: Peeping Tom and Plant Thieves

Accidential Damage to Property

A resident stated that upon arriving at his home, he found the roof to his car collapsed and scratches on the passenger side of the vehicle. The incident is believed to have occurred between 8:00p.m. May 24 and 2:00p.m. on May 25.

Alarm

Police responded to an active alarm at State Farm, 1201 North McHenry Road at 1:40p.m. on May 28.  No one was found inside the business and the agent reported she was alright.

Attempted Theft

A resident reported that an unknown individual dug her plants up located at the end of her driveway, sometime between 10:00p.m. May 26 and 9:00a.m. on May 27. 

Burglary from Vehicle

Complainant told police an unknown individual broke into the driver’s side window of his car parked at Burbon Tile, 270 Lexington Drive, sometime between 5:00p.m. on May 23 and 1:00p.m on May 24. The unknown person opened the hood and then took out a part that was attached to the transmission.

Criminal Damage to Property

A Park District employee reported that at 10:05p.m. May 26, an individual spray painted the slides, blacktop, chess table and other areas in Marielle Park with the number 22.  

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

A resident reported after she left a party at 11:00p.m. on May 25 from the 2700 block of Acacia Terrace, she discovered someone had broken the windshield of her car.  The windshield was damaged from either something being thrown at it or it being punched.

A resident reported that someone placed caution tape on his car parked in the 200 block of Belaire Drive and poured glue on it on May 26. The resident stated he had been having problems with two friends and when police interviewed one of them, he denied knowledge of the incident. 

Customer Management Dispute

A customer at the Shell Gas Station, 50 West Lake Cook Road, told police she pumped $52.00 worth of gas in her car at 9:30p.m. May 26, but found the gas gauge was only filled a quarter.  The clerk said he would document the complaint, but believed the pump was working properly.

Harassment by Telephone

A resident reported that her daughter received rude and inappropriate text messages at 6:26p.m. May 26.  Officers determined the messages were as
inappropriate, but were not threatening.  The messages were discovered to have been sent from a friend’s phone, which had been reported stolen.

Improper Security

While checking an alarm at Kumon Learning, 1205 McHenry Road at 1:55p.m. May 28, officers found another door unlocked.  The interior was checked and nothing appeared to be missing.

Information for Police

A resident received a debit card and checks in his name at 11:10p.m. May 27, but he had never opened an account at the bank. The accounts were cancelled, and when the resident checked his credit report, he learned someone was leasing a car in Michigan under his name.  The officer provided the resident with the appropriate identity theft information.

Outside Department Assist

On May 27 at 7:20p.m., Vernon Hills police requested Buffalo Grove officers check a residence for a male suspect involved in a hit-and-run accident.  Officers discovered the subject in the 1100 block of west Fabish Drive and turned him over to Vernon Hills.

Public Complaint

A little league official reported adults drinking while watching a little league game at 2:00p.m. on May 27 at Kilmer Park.  When officers arrived, the game was over.  Thye reminded remaining adults that drinking alcohol is prohibited in the parks.

Stray Dog

A resident in the 100 block of north Manchester Drive reported at 8:40p.m. May 27 that while her neighbor walked her dog, the dog got loose and attacked the resident’s dog.  The resident reported this type of incident has occurred in the past.  Officers reminded the neighbor her dog needs to be controlled at all times.

Suspicious Auto

An individual at Rack em Up, 312 North McHenry Road requested the area be checked for a silver car on May 26 at 9:35p.m. due to its occupants allegedly smoking marijuana.  Officers looked for the vehicle but were unable to locate it.

A complainant reported that at 8:05p.m. May 28, a male subject was seen striking another male subject in a mini-van at Walgreens, 1225 West Dundee Road.  The vehicle and subjects had left the area when officers arrived.

Suspicious Incident

At 10:35p.m. on May 27, a resident reported hearing a woman screaming and asking someone to call the police from his balcony, but did not see anyone.  Officers were able to locate a male subject who said he and a friend were drinking and had an argument.  Both apologized.

Suspicious Person 

A resident stated that at 10:25p.m. on May 25, she looked out her bedroom window and saw a male subject standing ten feet away and
looking at her. The complainant could not give a description of the subject, but did say he walked eastbound through a grassy area in the 600 block of Grove Drive.  The area was checked but no one was discovered.

Unwanted Subject

The association president at the Crossings Swimming Pool at 1100 Fremont Way reported a subject who did not have a pool pass was at the pool at 6:00p.m. May 28.  Officers spoke with the subject, who agreed to leave and not return without permission.

Arrests

Kristine A. Jensen, 46, of the 900 block of Aspen Drive was charged with Burglary for an incident that occurred between 6:00p.m. April 13 and 10:00a.m. April 14 in the 600 block of Essington Lane. Jensen was arrested on May 24 at the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

Sarah Elizabeth Shaner, 18, of the 1000 block of south Main Street, Belvidere, was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. The arrest occurred at 4:20a.m. on May 25 in the 200 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Sara Rose Stickels, 18, of the 1700 block of 14th Avenue, Belvidere, was charged with Possession and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Stickels was arrested at 4:20a.m. on May 25 in the 200 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Sarah P. Melamed, 19, of the 1400 block of Rolling Hills Court was charged with Possession and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.  The arrest occurred at 1:00a.m. on May 27 at McHenry Road and Arlington Heights Road.
