Police Blotter: One Home Burglarized, Another Painted

BURGLARY

A resident of the 1200 block of Euclid Court reported that when the family returned home July 1 after being gone since June 27, they found the front door unlocked. The bedrooms had been ransacked and jewelry was missing. A window had a damaged locking hasp and there were pry marks on the sill.

CIVIL MATTER
 
A salon official on the 300 block of West Half Day Road reported that a customer called June 21 stating that she was dissatisfied with the color of her hair. The customer was advised that the hair could be re colored in two weeks. The bank returned the customer’s check to the salon stamped stop payment. An officer advised the official that this is a civil matter.

COMPLAINT

A resident of Lake Boulevard reported that his upstairs neighbor was playing loud music at 10 p.m. June 30. An officer determined that the upstairs neighbor moved to an assisted living facility. The neighbor’s son was contacted and he said he would stop by later in the day to shut the music off.

DISTURBANCE

A bartender at reported a verbal dispute at a wedding reception at 11:05 p.m. July 1. The individuals involved were gone when officers arrived.

FOUND ITEM

An officer recovered a purple 15-speed Glacier Magna girl’s bike at 8:30 a.m. June 29 from a ditch along Arlington Heights Road at Miller Lane. No one was in the area and the officer placed the bike into property at .

A resident reported that while taking a walk at 7 p.m. June 29, she found a black men’s wallet near Highland Grove Drive and West Pauline Avenue. An officer determined the owner, who picked up his property.

Someone turned in a black leather bifold wallet that was found at 3:35 p.m. June 30 near Buffalo Grove and Old Checker roads. The wallet contained no information on the owner. The wallet was placed into property at police headquarters. 

ORDINANCE VIOLATION

A resident of the 800 block of Penny Lane advised police July 1 that his neighbor’s grass and weeds have grown in excess. An officer checked and found no one at home. Another officer had previously left a citation on the door.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 300 block of Bentley Place reported that someone threw white paint on the exterior of his house, on the windows, sidewalk, patio furniture, bushes, grass, plants and fence between 10 p.m. June 30 and 6:25 a.m. July 1. Two footwear impressions were left on the patio.

A resident of the 1900 block of Sheridan Road reported that his curbside mailbox had been pulled from its base between 6 p.m. June 27 and 5 a.m. June 28 and left lying on the ground. Another damaged mailbox was located in the area.

A resident reported that while she was shopping in various areas June 29, her passenger-side rear bumper was damaged.

A driver reported that an errant golf ball struck and shattered her windshield at 3:34 p.m. June 30 at Half Day and Buffalo Grove roads. The incident was reported to the .

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of Oak Creek Drive reported the smell of burnt cannabis coming from a neighboring unit at 10:40 p.m. July 1. An officer did smell the odor, but attempts to contact neighbors was not successful.

THEFT

An employee reported two male customers dined and dashed at 1:10 a.m. June 30, leaving behind a $24.58 bill. An officer contacted the registered owner of the vehicle in which the diners left. The owner stated that he was out of town and his brother-in-law was using the car. The owner will contact his brother-in-law and have him call the officer.

A resident reported someone took the mirror and parts from her driver-side outside mirror between 5:30 p.m. June 29 and 4 p.m. June 30 on the 100 block of LeJardin Court.

OTHER INCIDENTS
 
A resident reported June 28 that he received confirmation on an order for five pair of shoes that he did not order. The resident canceled the order and his credit card.

A resident reported July 1 that he received notification from Experian that someone was attempting to change his address on his credit report. The address used is the same as an address used to hack into his son’s credit accounts.

The Lake County sheriff requested assistance in establishing a perimeter after an armed robbery at 1:10 a.m. July 2 on the 1000 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The offenders were not located.
