Police Blotter: Missing Ring, Phone Call Complaints

These were among the reports released Feb. 10 by the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

DRUGS

A resident reported on Feb. 9 that she believed that her 17-year-old grandson and his friends had been smoking marijuana in his bedroom. When the resident confronted the grandson, he and the friends left the house. The police department’s drug-sniffing dog hit on several areas in the bedroom, locating marijuana residue. The area was checked but the subjects were not located.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported receiving unwanted text messages from a subject who would not identify himself at 10 p.m. Feb. 8. An officer called the number and left a message instructing the caller to cease the messages.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone slashed three tires on a car parked between Feb. 6-9 on the 700 block of Grove Drive. An officer noted that the damage was caused by a small sharp object.

THEFT

A resident reported Feb. 3 that she is missing an 18-karat white gold solitaire heirloom ring that she last wore a year ago. The ring is valued at $8,000. The resident will continue to search for it.

OTHER INCIDENTS

An employee at a Buffalo Grove business reported Feb. 9 that he received a phone call from a subject stating that he is from the Fraternal Order of Police and was soliciting donations. The employee told the caller that the owner was not there and asked him to send a brochure. The subject called the following day and became loud, argumentative and rude. The employee again asked for a mailed brochure. The phone number on caller ID is registered to a subject in Berwyn. An officer called the number and received no answer.
