Police Blotter: Missing Boys Found

ANIMALS

A resident reported a dog out walking by herself at 12:30 a.m. April 10 on the 400 block of Satinwood Terrace. An officer located the dog and located a chip. The owner was contacted and she retrieved her dog from the station.

BURGLARY

A resident of Strathmore Court reported that a neighboring home had the front door and the rear sliding door severely damaged between noon April 6 and 1 p.m. April 9. A building and zoning inspector said that the house is vacant, he checks on it from time to time, and the damage is recent. Officers checked the interior of the house and found the kitchen, cabinets and appliances severely damaged. The inspector has been attempting to contact the last known owner without success. The house was boarded up.

FOUND ITEM

Someone reported an unlocked Magna Exciter bicycle hidden in the bushes at 4 p.m. April 8 at North Prairie Road and Chestnut Terrace. The 26-inch red and silver bike was placed into property at the police department.

IMPROPER SECURITY

A newspaper delivery person reported at 4 a.m. April 10 that a garage door on the 2400 block of Waterbury Lane had been open for several days. An officer did not receive an answer at the door or on the phone. Officers found the service door unlocked, entered the house, and found everything in order. A crime opportunity notice was left and the house was secured.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident stated that when she picked up her vehicle after it was detailed at at 5 p.m. April 9, she found the side sliding door inoperable. The resident asked to speak with the manager, but she was told he was not there. The resident will follow up with the manager when he returns.

RUNAWAY/MISSING PERSON

A father reported his 13-year-old son ran from the house at 8:55 p.m. April 8 and did not return. The mother stated that the boy got mad because his dad would not let him out of the house to see his girlfriend. The boy later was found hiding in woods by one of the schools.

Officers responded to a report of a missing 3-year-old boy at 5 p.m. April 9. The boy’s grandma stated that the boy walked away from her while she was placing her infant granddaughter into a car seat. Officers checked the neighborhood and found the boy playing on a swing set in a neighbor’s yard. Officers spoke with the boy about leaving his grandma’s side without telling her.

THEFT

Someone removed the rear tire from a bicycle that was chained to a porch between 11 p.m. April 8 and noon April 9 on the 1100 block of Windbrooke Drive.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident’s husband took his wife’s pickup truck to work in Florida on March 15. He was to return in one week but instead called, stating he wanted a divorce, would not be returning to Buffalo Grove and was keeping the truck. The assistant state’s attorney would not approve theft charges, because the truck is considered a marital asset and should be dealt with during the divorce proceedings.

A resident stated that while cleaning his late mother’s home on April 6, he found a quantity of .32-caliber pistol ammunition that he wanted to have destroyed. The ammunition was placed into property for destruction.

A complainant stated April 7 that her adult brother watches their mother when the mother’s caregiver is not present. The complainant does not believe her brother is capable of caring for the mother. Several days ago, the mother had to be transported to the hospital because of the brother’s lack of care. The complainant declined the assistance of the police social worker and stated she wanted the incident documented in case there are more issues.
