Police Blotter: Marijuana Charges, Man Advised To Redirect Spit

ARRESTS

Alina Wells, 49, of the 600 block of Perrie Drive, Elk Grove, was charged with leaving a property damage accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 7:45 p.m. Aug. 26 on southbound Arlington Heights Road north of Lake-Cook Road.

BATTERY

A resident reported seeing two males fighting at 10:40 p.m. Aug. 27 on the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane. Officers located a father and son. The son stated that he had a physical altercation with an acquaintance over money and the father had broken up the fight. No complaints were signed.

BURGLARY

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and 8 a.m. Aug. 26 on the 500 block of Coventry Lane and removed a HP notebook computer valued at $500.

A female reported at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 27 that someone smashed the driver-side window to her vehicle and removed her purse from in between the two front seats while the vehicle was parked at .

A male  reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and removed his iPhone and $50 in cash from his wallet, which was located in the cup holder, on Aug. 27 on the 700 block of Checker Drive.

COMPLAINT

A resident of Lake Boulevard reported that after exiting her car, she walked past a neighbor who then spit at her at 6:40 p.m. Aug. 26. An officer spoke with the neighbor who stated that he did not spit at the resident; he simply spit, which he does all of the time. The officer advised the neighbor to make an effort to avoid the resident.

A resident reported that someone rang her doorbell and ran off at 10:10 p.m. Aug. 27. While checking the area, officers noted toilet paper in the trees and located a group of youths on the 900 block of Hilldale Lane. As officers approached the group, they bolted and jumped fences. The resident stated that her daughter was having a small party. The daughter stated that those responsible are the ones that ran off. The officer suggested that the daughter take the remaining guests and clean up the neighborhood.

An individual reported a loud party at 11:50 p.m. Aug. 27 on the 1000 block of Beechwood Road and officers located a number of adults in the backyard drinking and talking. The homeowner was advised of the complaint and he stated that noise would be kept at a minimum.

An individual reported there were people outside on the rear deck being loud and yelling at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 28 at . This is an ongoing problem. Officers located the individuals who were being loud, and the officer spoke with the manager and advised him of the complaint.

A resident reported that when she asked her neighbor if he muzzled his dog, the neighbor and the dog chased her in the parking lot at 2:40 p.m. Aug. 28 on the 100 block of Buffalo Grove Road. The dog had bitten the resident the previous year. An officer spoke with the neighbor who stated that he approached the resident to show her that the dog was muzzled and she retreated. The neighbor apologized for swearing at the resident.

A resident reported two youths walking on the bike path carrying BB guns at 3:20 p.m. Aug. 28 on the 1100 block of Windbrooke Drive. An officer located the youths, who were carrying a lever-action BB gun. The youths stated that they were shooting at empty pop bottles in the woods. The officer spoke to the parents who did not know about the prohibition of the use of the gun, and requested that officers have the gun destroyed.

A man stated that he and his son were at with their bicycles at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 28 when a skater used profanity in informing him that bikes were not allowed in that part of the park. The skater stated that he did not use profanity when he informed the man. Both parties then went their separate ways.

DRUGS

Roman A. Egorov, 23, of the 8900 block of LaCross, Skokie, was charged with retail theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana at 2:25 p.m. Aug. 26 at after a prevention officer reported a man placed merchandise into his pockets and left the store without paying. When an officer retrieved Egorov’s driver’s license from his vehicle, bags of marijuana and ecstasy were located.

Nicholas A. Faruzzi, 27, of the 200 block of Forest Place, Buffalo Grove, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 4:50 p.m. Aug. 26 on the 200 block of Forest Place after Cook County probation officers discovered a quantity of drug paraphernalia while conducting a probation check.

Lindsey Y. Brandt, 19, of the 200 block of South Parkway, Prospect Heights, was charged with retail theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 2:10 p.m. Aug. 27 at after a store official reported that an individual had been in the bathroom for some time. Officers made contact with Brandt and recovered two syringes and a half can with burn marks from the bathroom. Brandt admitted to injecting a controlled substance. Officers recovered two small bags with a white powder, which was sent to the lab.

Dmitriy Pyrkin, 24, of the 26300 block of Diamond Lake Road, Mundelein, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and not wearing a seat belt at 9 p.m. Aug. 28 on northbound Buffalo Grove Road from Lake-Cook Road.

Thomas J. Suforna, 23, of the 7000 block of Fox River Road, Wilmont, Wis., was charged with possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license, speeding, not wearing a seat belt and driving without insurance at 12:45 a.m. Aug. 29 on Lake-Cook Road at Milwaukee Avenue.

Jacob M. Miller, 22, of the 400 block of Allen Court, Wheeling, was charged with possession of marijuana and disregarding a stop sign at 1:20 a.m. Aug. 29 on Buffalo Grove Road at Thompson Boulevard.

LOST CHILD

While on patrol, an officer found a 7-year-old girl crying and appearing upset at 3:55 p.m. Aug. 26 at Dundee Road and Oak Creek Drive. The girl told the officer that her mom was not there to pick her up from the school bus stop. The officer determined the girl’s address and took her home. It appears that the girl got off at the wrong bus stop. Her mother will notify the school.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported receiving numerous harassing phone calls from a dentist over bills for her father and brother from Aug. 23-27. The dentist also came to her place of employment in an irate manner. An officer left a message for the dentist and will follow up.

A resident reported receiving text messages Aug. 28 from an acquaintance threatening bodily harm. An officer spoke with the acquaintance who apologized and stated he would stop sending the messages.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES

A female reported a male was watching her from a blue Nissan at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 26 and that she was afraid to leave the building on the 100 block of Arlington Heights Road. Officers located the vehicle and the driver who stated that he was a security guard hired by management to watch the building. This was verified. The female was escorted to her car.

A female stated that when she parked her car at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 28 at the , she saw a man standing by a blue sport utility vehicle with Florida license plates. Officer checked the area with negative results.

A resident reported Aug. 29 receiving text messages regarding the sale of Oxycodone and blue pills. When the resident sent a text back stating that she did not know the sender, an apology was received stating the text was sent to the wrong number. An officer attempted to call the number from Atlanta, but only received a generic voice mail.

A resident of the 300 block of Hiawatha Drive reported a male Hispanic knocking on his neighbor’s door at 2 p.m. Aug. 28. The neighbor is elderly and wheelchair bound. The resident spoke with the male who said he was a handyman and had an appointment. The address given by the male does not exist. The resident also noted a red Nissan Versa parked a short distance away with two people inside. They left the area before officers arrived. The license plate given was run through all 50 states and came back to vehicles in Florida, Mississippi and Washington, but none matched the description of the vehicle given.

A resident reported a vehicle on the street at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 28 on the 1-100 block of Columbus Parkway. A neighbor came out of his house and walked up to the car. The neighbor reached into the car and either gave the occupant something or received something. The resident advised that this activity occurs often at that location. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived. Officers are aware of the neighbor and will continue to monitor the area.

THEFT

A resident reported Aug. 26 that when she attempted to use her credit card, it was declined. She credit provider advised her that the card had been used 11 times at a store in British Columbia, Canada. The resident advised the provider that she has not been to Canada, and the charges were reversed.

John C. Maier Jr., 24, of the 1000 block of Harvard Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with theft at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at after a loss-prevention officer said he attempted to leave without paying for alcohol and merchandise.

TRESPASSING

A resident of the 800 block of Indian Spring Lane reported that someone entered her daughter’s vehicle and tossed it between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 26 and 8:20 a.m. Aug. 27. There was nothing missing from the car. The daughter stated that the car had been locked and she found it that way. She also stated that she is missing her spare and valet keys.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 600 block of Hackberry Court West reported toilet paper on his car and bushes in front of his home, and broken eggs on his rear deck at 9 p.m. Aug. 27. There also was Dijon mustard, mayonnaise and ice cream on the vinyl siding of the house.
