Police Blotter: Man Bares Wounded Backside, Dog Urinates on Neighbor's Head

ALCOHOL

Luis G. Flores, 32, of the 1300 block of Turtle Creek, Palatine, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, illegal lane use and driving on a suspended license at 4:10 a.m. March 25 on the 1500 block of West Dundee Road.

ANIMALS

A resident of the 200 block of Timber Hill Road reported at 6:35 a.m. March 24 that a black Lab had jumped into her backyard. The dog was transported to King’s Kennel. There was a chain collar with a blue tag on the dog. The owner was determined and notified.

A resident of the 700 block of Grove Drive reported that while sitting on his patio and reading the paper at 9:45 a.m. March 25, the upstairs neighbor’s dog urinated on the resident’s head. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who assured that the incident would not reoccur.

BATTERY

Alvin P. Almaria, 34, of the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway, Buffalo Grove, was charged with domestic battery at 2:20 p.m. March 25.

BURGLARY

Residents of the 1900 block of Brandywyn Lane returned home at 10:30 p.m. March 24 to find items in the master bedroom disturbed and items lying on the floor in the hallway. A resident then noted a rear window open, and the locking mechanism damaged. The house was checked and no one was inside. The K9 team tracked footprints that led to an area where the offender(s) entered a car. The resident stated that he is not sure what was missing, but believed various pieces of jewelry are gone.

COMPLAINT

A resident of the 200 block of Thornapple Court reported that she met a neighbor in the hallway at 6:40 p.m. March 23 and he made a comment about an incident that occurred a year ago. The resident then called the neighbor a name and the neighbor retorted in kind. The resident stated that the neighbor became highly irate and began flailing his arms, causing the resident to become frightened and believe that the neighbor might attack her. At an officer’s request, they agreed to leave each other alone.

A resident of the 500 block of White Pine Road reported vehicles driving too fast in the area at 9:40 p.m. March 24. An officer located the vehicles and was able to stop one of them. The driver had a graduated driver’s license and two passengers in the car. The passengers’ parents were called and they picked up their children. The driver was cited and released.

A resident reported that people on the rear deck of were being too loud at 1 a.m. March 25. An officer checked and found no noise coming from the deck area. The officer will follow up with the owner to determine a reasonable time to close the deck.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A resident received reported receiving an email March 23 from her friend stating that she was in Spain and was the victim of a crime. The friend stated that she needed money and would like it sent via Western Union. The resident called her friend who stated that she was at home in Arlington Heights. The resident has received no further communication.

DISPUTE

A complainant reported that the employees refused to mail his package due to weight restrictions at 2:50 p.m. March 24. He stated that an employee was rude to him and he wanted to speak with the postmaster. The supervisor gave the complainant the phone number for the postmaster and then asked the complainant to leave, which he did.

LOST/FOUND ITEMS

A resident reported that her son left his Apple iPhone at on Feb. 23 and when he returned March 11, employees advised that no phone had been turned in.

A resident reported that his prescription medication was missing from his backpack at 9:30 a.m. March 24. The resident suspected that his estranged wife took the medication. The resident confronted the wife, who denied taking the meds.

A resident reported losing a blue ID case containing her driver’s license and Social Security card between noon March 23 and 2 p.m. March 24. The resident does not know where she may have lost the item. She was given a form to obtain a duplicate license and was instructed to contact the Social Security Administration.

A citizen turned in a rust-colored wristlet that was found at 6:55 p.m. March 25 at . An officer located an Illinois identification card inside and contacted the owner, who came to the station and retrieved her property.

PHONE HARASSMENT

A resident reported March 23 that a man continually calls him to sell diabetic medical supplies. The caller has been told by the resident to stop calling, and the caller then used profanity and made a threat of bodily harm. An officer checked the numbers and found them to be out of New Jersey and that they have been disconnected. The resident was advised to have his phone provider block the numbers or change his phone number.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of the 700 block of Highland Grove Drive reported a loud noise in front of his house at 10:30 p.m. March 23. When he looked outside, he saw the taillights of a vehicle traveling down the street. The resident then noticed that his mailbox post was broken in half.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/PERSON

A resident reported finding an unknown substance between the cushions of the couch in the basement between March 17 and March 23. The substance did not test positive for illicit drugs.

A complainant reported a man was undressing at 5 p.m. March 23 in a parking lot on the 100 block of North Arlington Heights Road. Officers located the man, who stated that he had injured his buttocks while wrestling, and was placing napkins to that area to stop the bleeding. Paramedics checked the man and he also was advised to use a private location to tend to his wounds.

A resident of the 1-100 block of Oak Creek Drive reported that someone was attempting to enter her apartment at 11 a.m. March 23. When the resident checked, she found no one in the hallway.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway reported at 8:20 p.m. March 5 that there were a number of youths by his car and when he checked found that a tar-like substance was smeared on the car. It did not appear that there was any damage caused.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident reported March 24 that he prepaid a baby sitter $1,600 and the sitter then called stating that she quit. The resident stated that the sitter now owes him $400. An officer contacted the sitter, who stated that she only owes $100 and would drop that off in the form of a money order. The resident stated that he would pursue the remaining $300 through the civil process.

A official reported at 2:40 a.m. March 25 that a patient who was at the center complaining of chest pains stated that he had taken cocaine. The patient was searched and no contraband was found. He was transported by paramedics to the hospital.
