Police Blotter: Loud Noise, Rejected Shoveler Prompt Call to Police

ALCOHOL

A complainant at a print shop on the 1-100 block of West Dundee Road reported that a patron appeared intoxicated at 6:52 p.m. Feb. 23. The patron was having difficulty making copies and began yelling profanities. Officers approached the patron and noticed a smell of alcohol. The patron stated he had been drinking and was advised not to drive. A taxi service was contacted and officers stood by until the taxi arrived.

A resident reported an ongoing problem with her neighbor's dog barking on Feb. 23. Officers heard the dog barking and issued a citation. The complainant was advised to contact her homeowners’ association. The dog owner arrived at the police station to speak with the officer about the citation. The officer opted to make the ticket a warning and advised the owner she needed to speak with her association about finding a solution.

BATTERY

Maria F. Grozdev, 48, of 840 Trace Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with domestic battery at 12:42 a.m. Feb. 23. 

COMPLAINT 

A resident reported Feb. 23 that she has been receiving phone messages from an unknown caller since Nov. 24. between the listed dates. Officers advised that a phone trap would not be helpful due to the lack of information. The complainant was advised to get assistance from her phone provider and to contact the police with any further information that could be obtained.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Officers responded Feb. 23 to a report of damage to property on South Buffalo Grove Road and found the glass to the interior door of the vestibule shattered. There was a small hole next to the door handle, which was still secured. It was unknown what caused the glass to be shattered, as no other damage was observed in the immediate area. Property management was contacted and arrived to board up the door until the glass could be replaced.

SUSPICIOUS NOISE 

A resident of Columbus Parkway reported she heard a loud bang on the side of her house at 7:20 p.m. Feb. 23, and a man rang her doorbell and offered to shovel her driveway, which she refused. A check of the exterior of the complainant's home showed nothing to be disturbed. A canvass of the area was conducted and neighbors advised a loud bang was heard but the cause was undetermined. They also said the man has been in the area before requesting to shovel snow. He was described as a white male, about 30 years old.
