Police Blotter: Loud Engines, Long Grass, Suspicious Noise

ANIMALS

A resident of the 2900 block of Kingston Drive reported that she leaned toward a dog that was being walked past her house at 7:15 a.m. Aug. 8, and the dog bit her in the hand. The same dog bit the resident’s dog the week before. An officer spoke with the dog’s owner who stated that she adopted the dog three weeks ago and he will undergo training within a week. The dog bite report was sent to Lake County and instructions were given. 

CITIZEN ASSIST

A complainant told police Aug. 8 that his ex-girlfriend would not return his car. He said he has asked her, but she refuses to comply. An officer spoke with the ex-girlfriend, who said that she would return the car if the complainant returned hers. The complainant will contact the ex and make the switch.

COMPLAINT

Officers responded to a report of motorcycles and cars revving their engines at 11:40 p.m. Aug. 8 in the parking lot of , which was hosting a car/motorcycle show. The manager stated he would advise all of the owners not to rev their engines. All was quiet when officers departed.

A resident of the 500 block of Checker Drive reported that a garage door was open at a neighbor’s house at 7:50 p.m. Aug. 8 and she did not think the homeowners were at home. Officers checked the home and found no one inside. The entire house was under construction. Officers secured the doors. 

INVESTIGATION

A complainant told police that an acquaintance who has an order of protection against her husband was with the husband at 8:05 p.m. Aug. 8 at a restaurant in Buffalo Grove. An officer spoke with the couple and explained that they cannot meet as long as the order is in effect. Both left their separate ways. 

ORDINANCE VIOLATION

A resident reported Aug. 8 that weeds and grass were in violation of village ordinance on the 200 block of West Thompson Boulevard. An officer verified and attempted to contact the owner without success. A citation was left at the door. 

A resident reported Aug. 8 that weeds and grass were in violation of village ordinance on the 1300 block of Whitney Lane. An officer verified and attempted to contact the owner without success. A citation was left at the door. 

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/VEHICLE

A resident of the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane reported that something hit her bathroom window at 1 a.m. Aug. 8. The resident lives on the third floor. An officer checked the ground below and found nothing that may have struck the window. The resident believed that the downstairs neighbors, against whom she has filed complaints, may have been responsible. 

A clerk reported that a vehicle and driver pulled into the gas station at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 9 and did not leave for 45 minutes. The driver never got out of the car. An officer spoke with the driver who stated that she wanted to speak with her boyfriend in a lighted area. The driver was advised to let the station clerk know, in the future, so that there is no suspicion or concern.
