Police Blotter: Laughing Couple Causes 'Disturbance'

COMPLAINTS

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 2:36 a.m. June 30 in a parking lot of the 1500 block of East Busch Parkway. Officers located a couple who were arguing, but nothing became physical. The couple departed without further incident.

An officer responded to a report of a possible disturbance between a male and female at 12:30 a.m. June 30 on the 1000 block of Courtland Drive. The officer located the subjects, who stated that they had been out to dinner, had a good time and were not arguing, but laughing. All was quiet when the officer departed.

DRUGS

Matthew R. Breen, 22, of the 1500 block of Chickamauga Lane, Long Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of heroin and illegal lane usage at 11:57 p.m. June 27 on Aptakisic Road east of Weiland Road.

RUNAWAY

A resident reported at 9:35 a.m. June 29 that her 15-year-old daughter left the house without permission the previous night. The daughter called in the morning to say that she had camped out with some friends in the forest preserve and needed to be picked up. The resident picked the girl up and an officer explained curfew laws and home rules to the girl. The family was referred to Omni Youth Services and the police social worker.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/PERSON

A business representative on the 300 block of Dundee Road reported that a customer saw a bag containing syringes near the bushes at 5:15 p.m. June 29. An officer located the bag, which contained syringes and spoons with residue. The items were placed into property for destruction.

A resident of the 600 block of Silver Rock Lane reported two strangers in his home at 10 a.m. June 29. Officers spoke with a male subject who stated that his mother-in-law, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, wandered into the wrong house and he retrieved her to take her home.

A resident reported that a white van dropped off a male who then sat on a bench for about 10 minutes at 3:20 p.m. June 29 on the 1500 block of Brandywyn Lane. An officer located the male, who stated that he had been dropped off to sell magazine subscriptions. When the male stated that he did not have a permit, he was told to contact his ride to pick him up.

An individual reported June 29 that he sent a package via UPS to the Ukraine, and when he tracked the package to see if it had arrived he was unable to find any information. The complainant then contacted the UPS store and was unable to get any information. An officer spoke with an official, who stated that the package may be temporarily lost and that he is working with UPS to see what happened.
