Police Blotter: Lamp Post Catches Fire, Belongings Stolen from Car

BURGLARY

A resident of the 2800 block of Sandalwood Court reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and removed two jackets, a navigation system, and a six-pack of Gatorade between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 15 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 16. The items were valued at $555.  

DRUGS

Daniel N. Zarletti, 19, of the 1600 block of Glenwood Avenue, Glenview, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of liquor by a minor and speeding at 2:15 a.m. Oct. 17 on North McHenry Road at Ranchview Drive.

An officer responded to a report of a lamp post on fire at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 on the 100 block of University Drive. Fire personnel turned off the gas to the light and doused the blaze. A work order was completed to have Public Works repair the lamp. 

FOUND PROPERTY

A resident turned in a gold bracelet that she found Oct. 16 by the pine trees to the south of the Willow Stream Park parking lot. There are no identifying marks and the bracelet was placed into property at police headquarters.  

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A motorist reported that his vehicle was damaged by a loose manhole cover at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 12 on northbound Arlington Heights Road at Dundee Road. The cost of repairs was estimated at $652.29. 

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/VEHICLE

A resident reported a vehicle with an occupant parked at 3 p.m. Oct. 16 on the 400 block of LeParc Circle. An officer located the vehicle and the driver stated that he was tired and pulled over to rest. The police state database indicated no wants or warrants on the driver and he left the area without incident. 

A resident of the 100 block of Windwood Court reported a man was taking pictures of her home at 8 a.m. Oct. 4. The man told the resident that he was from a mortgage company and was sent to verify whether someone lived in the house. After the man left, the resident called that mortgage company and staff advised that they did not send an employee to her home. 

A complainant reported at 10:15 p.m. Oct. 16 that a vehicle parked in front of a home on the 1300 block of Hidden Lake Drive. An officer located a white van with the driver talking on a phone. The driver stated that he pulled over to make several phone calls. The officer noted nothing unusual and the driver and passenger cleared the police state database. 

WELL-BEING CHECKS

A sister requested Oct. 16 that police check on her brother who was recently released from drug rehab. Officers received no answer at the door. Officers entered the unit and found the brother on the couch in an incoherent state. Paramedics transported the brother to the hospital.

A resident reported two people were walking on the shoulder of the road at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 on North Buffalo Grove Road at West Half Day Route and the male walker was trying to catch up to the female walker. An officer located the two, who were calm and talking. They stated that they were just out for a walk. 

OTHER INCIDENTS

A employer on the 200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue requested that officers stand by at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 16 while the employer terminated an employee and have him escorted off the premises. Officers stood by without incident.
