Police Blotter: Knock Knock Ditch

ALCOHOL

Leonid Khorolinsky, 38, of the 900 block of Bedford Court, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, illegal lane usage and expired registration at 1 a.m. July 27 on Milwaukee Avenue near Aptakisic Road.

A 15-year-old Buffalo Grove resident was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 4:55 p.m. July 26 on Grove Drive.

A 15-year-old Buffalo Grove resident was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 10:15 p.m. July 27 on Grove Drive.

ANIMALS

A resident reported that a brown female collie mix followed her from the parking lot to her apartment. The dog did not have a collar or tags. The dog has a chip but it has not been registered. It was taken to Kings Kennel.

COMPLAINT

A resident reported that someone placed a garbage can with the resident’s trash that was placed out for pickup between 1 a.m. July 25 and 6 a.m. July 26.

A complainant reported July 26 a subject frequently smokes cigarettes in front of stores on the 1000 block of Weiland Road. The subject told an officer she makes sure she is the required 15 feet away from any doorway. The complainant stated that her husband measure 15 feet to assure that the subject complies.

A complainant stated July 26 that she made paid with a check at a store on the 1200 block of West Dundee Road. The clerk scanned the check and returned it to the complainant along with her purchase. She then went to another store and upon leaving, she could not find the first purchase along with the scanned check. An officer advised that the complainant contact her bank and monitor her checking account.

A complainant reported that people on the rear patio of Prairie House were being loud at 12:15 a.m. July 27. An officer noted four to five people on the patio having a normal conversation and no loud noise was detected. The officer advised the complainant of his findings.

A resident of the 400 block of St. Mary’s Parkway reported July 27 that for the past two weeks youths have knocked loudly on the door late at night and run away. This activity causes the family’s dog to bark loudly and uncontrollably. An officer initiated an extra watch.

DISPUTE

An employee at a business on the 700 block of Eastwood Lane reported July 26 that she felt threatened by a coworker as a result of statements made after she left him a note about a missing item. An officer advised both to discuss their issues with their supervisor.

FOUND ITEM

An officer found a boy’s bicycle lying in the bushes at 10 a.m. July 27 in a parking lot on the 700 block of South Buffalo Grove Road. The bicycle had been painted and its make and model were unknown. The bike was placed into property at the police station.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

An employee on the 300 block of Lexington Drive found a tow truck towing his vehicle from the parking lot at 6:45 p.m. July 27. The driver was stopped and he stated that he has a contract to tow any vehicle that did not have a company sticker. That company no longer exists and the driver dropped the car. It was later determined that the car’s sway bar and control arm were damaged. The employee will pursue civil action.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

A driver reported that a tan, older model SUV, driven by a male, was following her at 11:30 p.m. July 26 in a parking lot on the 1-100 block of North McHenry Road. The complainant did not get a license plate number and the SUV was gone when officers arrived.

OTHER INCIDENTS

A resident who does not have a PayPal account reported receiving a $1,330.88 bill between June 24 and July 13. The resident has contacted the credit bureaus and has requested that PayPal remove the charge.
