Police Blotter: Kids Climb onto School Roof

ANIMALS

A mother reported that while her son was at for football practice at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1, a dog walked onto the field and the son accidentally stepped on the dog’s paw, resulting in the dog biting the boy. The boy was treated for two puncture wounds on his right forearm. The dog and owner were located and bite procedures were issued 

COMPLAINT

A resident reported three youths were on the roof of at 7:10 p.m. Aug. 1. An officer spoke with the youths who stated that they were curious and wanted to see what was on the roof. Two of the youths were on the ground and the third had to be taken off the roof by fire personnel. All three were turned over to their parents and were told that if any damage was found on the roof, they would be responsible.

DISPUTES

A resident of the 300 block of St. Mary’s Parkway accused a neighbor of leaving garbage on the resident’s parkway at 9:25 a.m. Aug. 1. The garbage consisted of several candy bar wrappers and a piece of paper. The neighbor denied knowing anything about the garbage and an argument ensued. The resident picked up the garbage and agreed to let the police handle any issues in the future. 

A employee reported a customer inside the bank was being verbally abusive toward the staff because he was not getting his money fast enough at 1 p.m. Aug. 1. This is a regular occurrence. The customer calmed and agreed to leave.

LITTERING

A resident reported person tossing trash out of his car onto the lawn at 2:25 p.m. Aug. 1 on the 1-100 block of St. Mary’s Parkway. Officers were unable to locate the car and driver.  

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident reported that when she opened her front door from the inside she found that the glass to the storm door was shattered. It is undetermined what caused the damage, which occurred between 8 a.m. and 1:55 p.m. Aug. 1.

RUNAWAY

A resident reported that she last saw her son at 8:30 a.m. July 31 and he was not at home when she returned at 9 p.m. Aug. 1. The son was later located with his aunt in Arlington Heights. 

THEFT

A complainant reported that his bike was stolen from the between 4 p.m. July 31 and 8 a.m. Aug. 1. The bike is a blue Dave Mirra 540 Signature and valued at $150. 

A company official on the 100 block of West Half Day Road reported that a former employee returned on two dates in June to retrieve property that she stated belonged to her. When the official did an inventory, he found that an audiometer valued at $9,735, an otoscope valued at $249 and an ear wax vacuum/aspirator valued at $165 were missing.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A store official on the 200 block of West Dundee Road reported a man was sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the store at 3 p.m. Aug. 1. Officers woke the man, who stated that he was OK, that he is currently homeless but has a sister who lives in the area. He refused any assistance and walked off.
