Police Blotter: Intoxicated Woman Walks into Lake

ALCOHOL

A security officer reported that a woman exited a business at 11:15 a.m. April 17 and walked directly into a retention lake at Barclay Boulevard and Corporate Grove Drive. The woman was in the water up to her neck and the security officer along and another employee were able to pull her out. Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital due to her high level of intoxication.

A complainant reported that she had the green light at 3:45 p.m. April 17, but when she proceeded through the intersection of Brandywyn Lane and Aptakisic Road, she was cut off by a vehicle that failed to yield on a left turn. The driver of the offending vehicle yelled a racial slur at the complainant. No license information was available.

While on patrol on the 1000 block of Weiland Road, an officer found a business’s rear door ajar. Officers checked the interior and found everything in order. The door was secured and an official was notified.

LOST ITEM

A resident of the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane reported that his company-owned Lenovo laptop computer was missing from his vehicle between 7 p.m. April 16 and 9 a.m. April 17. The resident said that he last saw the computer in the trunk of his car, and when he returned to his car the next morning, it was locked and secure with no evidence of it being burglarized.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident of Villa Verde Drive reported finding light scratch marks running the entire length of the passenger side of her 2000 Chevrolet Malibu at 3 p.m. April 17.

A complainant who works at a business on the 1100 block of West Lake-Cook Road reported that a fellow employee damaged the complainant’s car when her car door blew open at 11 a.m. April 16. It was agreed that the complainant would obtain an estimate for the repair, and when the complainant showed the estimate to the fellow employee, she disputed the amount. An officer attempted to call the fellow employee without success.

RUNAWAY

A resident reported that her 14-year-old son left the residence without permission while the resident and her husband were gone at 6:30 p.m. April 17. The boy’s mom believed that the teen was attempting to avoid a meeting with school officials and his parents. It was unknown where the boy went. An officer contacted a friend of the boy, and the call was not returned. The boy was entered into the police state database.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A resident of the 2900 block of Acacia Terrace reported a person asked to change the gas meter at her home at 4:30 p.m. April 17. The resident gets her gas service from North Shore Gas and thought the person might work for another company. The resident called North Shore Gas and they stated that they had no record of anyone being sent to her home. The resident then received a phone message from a man who said he would be by the next day to change the meter. When the resident called that number, there was no answer. The resident will call 911 immediately if the visitor returns.

TRESPASSING

Linda L. Flood, 32, of the 32700 block of North Highway 21, Libertyville, was charged with criminal trespass to land at 8:20 p.m. April 17 at after a loss-prevention official reported that she previously had been notified that she is not to enter any Dominick’s stores.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A resident reported at 7:10 p.m. April 17 that a father left two children, about 5 and 9 years old, at the playground and that they had been there for the past two hours. An officer found the father at the playground. He told the officer that his son is 11 years old and he left for only 10 to 15 minutes to run to the store. He took his kids home.

OTHER INCIDENTS
 
A company official on the 300 block of Hastings Drive noticed an unfamiliar vehicle parked in the parking lot at 6:55 p.m. April 17. Prior to an officer’s arrival, the owner of the vehicle walked from another company, apologized for parking there and removed the car. The company official then asked the officer to check the building and all was found to be secure.
