Police Blotter: Intoxicated Customer Throws a Punch

ALCOHOL/DRUGS

Debbie A. Rediger, 46, of the 800 block of Indigo, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit, speeding and illegal lane use at 1:50 a.m. May 3 at Deerfield Road and Green Knolls Drive.

Rolando R. Torres, 21, of the 1400 block of Palm, Wheeling, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane use, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia at 12;08 a.m. May 4 on Dundee Road at Lake Boulevard.

Michael E. Bass, 34, of the 100 block of Saratoga, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving on a suspended license, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and no child restraint at 3:48 p.m. May 4 at Checker Road at Knight Hill Court. 

Karl E. Hoskins, 50, of the 200 block of Old Oak Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence and no wearing a seatbelt at 5:23 p.m. May 4 on Dundee Road at Buffalo Grove Road.

ANIMALS

A resident of the 1000 block of Cumberland Court reported a suspicious noise coming from his attic at 3:43 a.m. May 5. Upon further investigation, it was determined the noise was a result of some type of animals. The complainant was provided with phone numbers to a 24-hour wildlife trapping services. 

BATTERY

Thomas A. Burton, 30, of the 100 block of East Ranney, Vernon Hills, was charged with battery at 11:26 p.m. May 2 at Prairie House after a complainant reported being struck in the face by a customer who was told he would not be served due to his high level of intoxication.

BURGLARY

A resident of the 2000 block of Roslyn Lane reported their home was burglarized between 3:30-10:37 p.m. May 4, when they returned home to find the front door had been forced open and the house in disarray.

COMPLAINTS

A resident of the 800 block of Burgess Circle reported a solicitor came to his home at 1:49 p.m. May 4. The resident stated he has a no soliciting sign on his front door and asked that police speak with the visitor. Officers contacted the solicitor, who was told to avoid going to homes that have no soliciting signs posted. The solicitors stated they understood. 

A complainant reported being cut off from another driver, who he stopped while in traffic at 9:22 a.m. May 5 at Weidner and Lake-Cook roads. Officers spoke with both drivers and cautioned them to contact the police in the future and to avoid confronting others. 

FOUND PROPERTY

Officers responded to a report of a motorcycle in a pond at 11 a.m. May 5 on the 800 block of Commerce Court. The motorcycle was located and pulled out by a tow company. Officers contacted the owner who believed the motorcycle had been repossessed. The owner was given the location of the motorcycle.

FRAUD

A Walgreens employee reported a fraudulent prescription was called in at 1:51 p.m. May 5. Officers identified the prescription was fraudulent and the order was cancelled. No further information was available.

PHONE HARASSMENT 

A resident reported receiving several harassing text messages from an unknown caller on May 2. Officers attempted to identify the caller but were unsuccessful. 

THEFT

Zbigniew S. Gacek, 45, of the 4900 block of south Lockwood, Stickney, was charged with theft at 12:40 p.m. May 4 at Dominick’s after an employee reported the theft of chicken, cheese and vodka.
