Police Blotter: Homes Burglarized, Redbox Movies Stolen

BURGLARY  

Someone pried open a front door and ransacked interior rooms between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 25 on the 100 block of Manchester. The complainant was sure that the front door was locked, but was unsure whether the door was dead-bolted. Officers contacted an evidence technician who processed the scene. 

A resident of Woodstone Drive reported that someone kicked the exterior of the front door and gained entry between 8:15 a.m. and 6:24 p.m. Sept. 25. A computer was reported missing from the kitchen table. 

PHONE HARASSMENT

A complainant reported receiving a retainer for accountant services on Sept. 25. The complainant began his review of the documents and stopped when the client advised him of a change in the process and said his services were not needed. The client demanded his money back and the complainant refused, stating he had already begun the work. Officers contacted the client and advised him to refrain from calling the complainant after the paperwork was returned. 

A complainant reported receiving a call Sept. 24 from someone who said they were with the police department and that they found his wallet in the woods. The caller stated they needed to verify some personal information over the phone before they could send him his wallet. The complainant terminated the call and realized this was a scam and an identity theft attempt. 

THEFT

A complainant reported that someone took her wallet from a table inside the Highland Park Hospital Health & Fitness Center between noon and 3 p.m. Sept. 24.

A complainant reported Sept. 25 that 20 DVDs were stolen from the Redbox kiosk at Jewel-Osco. The Indiana State Police called and said they had arrested the alleged offenders who were in possession of the DVDs. It was learned they used a "bump key" to open the machine and remove the DVDs.
