Police Blotter: Home Egged, Mailboxes Damaged

The following information was supplied by the Buffalo Grove Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

ALCOHOL

A 17-year-old Buffalo Grove resident was charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 11 p.m. June 7 on Whispering Oaks Drive.

A driver reported that as he was attempting to turn into a gas station on the 200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue at 7:15 p.m. June 8, another vehicle made it difficult for him to do so. When the driver pulled to the pump, the other driver pulled in front of him, got out of the car and began yelling. The other driver was gone when officers arrived.

A tow truck driver removed a vehicle from the Buffalo Creek parking lot because it did not have a sticker for the complex at 12:20 p.m. June 9. While securing the tow equipment in a parking lot on the 1-100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road, the owner of the vehicle demanded that the driver drop the car. An officer determined that the tow was legal.

NOISE COMPLAINT

A resident of the 1000 block of Courtland Drive reported that his upstairs neighbor’s sound system was on too loud at 10 p.m. June 8. The neighbor stated that he would turn it down.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

A resident reported that occupants of a vehicle were damaging curbside mailboxes with a blunt object between 10 and 11 p.m. June 7 on the 2900 block of Whispering Oaks Drive. Officers located six damaged mailboxes. Police checked the area but did not locate the offenders.

A resident of the 500 block of Crown Point Court reported seeing two youths damaging his curbside mailbox at 10:20 p.m. June 7. The resident confronted the youths, who then ran off.

A resident of the 400 block of Parkchester Road reported that someone egged her home and knocked the curbside mailbox off its post between 10 p.m. June 7 and 8 a.m. June 9.

SOLICITOR COMPLAINT

A resident of the 1-100 block of Fabish Drive reported two people came to his home soliciting for AT&T at 5:20 p.m. June 8. Officers checked the area and located the two individuals. One stated that his boss obtained permits from the Village Hall, but they did not have the permits with them. They were asked to stop until the permits were in their possession.

THEFT

A hotel manager on the 1500 block of Busch Parkway reported that a guest paid for various nights at the hotel with cash and credit cards between May 27 and 28. One of the credit cards was fraudulent and the guest left without paying for the last night’s stay. The total loss was $181.16.  

A resident reported June 7 that she took three rings off and placed them in a holder. The resident left the house for a short time. A cleaning service was at the house for two hours. When the resident returned home, she remembered to put her rings back on, and when she looked for them, they were gone. The three rings are valued at $24,169.

UNWANTED SUBJECT

A resident reported June 8 that her sister’s ex-boyfriend came to her house after he was told not to. He then dropped off some items at the front door. An officer spoke with the man, who denied being told that he could not come by but now understands.

WELL-BEING CHECK

A resident of the 1-100 block of Willow Parkway reported hearing a loud crash coming from his upstairs neighbor’s unit at 7:50 p.m. June 8 and requested that police check on the neighbor. An officer did not receive an answer at the door or to a phone call. Fire personnel gained access to the apartment and found the 65-year-old neighbor lying on the floor. The neighbor was conscious and breathing but was not alert or able to speak. The neighbor’s daughter was notified and the neighbor was transported to Condell Medical Center.
